Victor Meldrew I notice that Hamer is now back at the club.
He's been back a couple of weeks after warming the bench during his second month at Brentford.

Re: The one part of the game Newcastle thrashed us at today

The support. Half a south stand of traveling Toon Army supporters sang us off the pitch from start to finish today - they were terrific. I thought they were tame and quiet for long periods, and half of them buggered off after Long scored. The "best fans in the world" my arse. Nothing impr...

Jerry St Clair Anyway, when I ditch my season ticket for the first time in 17 years next season, at least the club will get a family of 4 in my place.

Should have done it this season mush, nice to see Finch leading the way.

Aren't you supposed to be in prison?

It wouldn't be so bad if it was something related to the club, like Terry & June. ... It might be a "what the hell?" moment to start with from some fans (those that don't realise why it's our tune for a start) I haven't heard Terry & June being sung for ages - I can't remember the...

Plans are to expand to 30,000 not 38,000. 38,000 is a seperate phase and I can see then doing phase 1 then pausing. I know these figures have been reported everywhere, but I'd just like to point out that according to page 239 of this report from the Reading Borough Council Planning Applications Com...

Rotherham's claim of 1870 is also fake - there's an article about it on a fan's webpage somewhere. Basically they've just taken the date of the oldest football club in the town regardless of the fact that there was no connection to the current Rotherham United. You're right, here it is. In short, R...

There was much confusion over the rules of football for some time in the late 1800's as different leagues had different rules. Am I correct in thinking that a large part of our 18-0 defeat to Preston was down to the fact we kept on giving away freekicks due to handball as in the competition we play...

Pulling it all together, the clubs currently in the League that are older than Reading are:-

Notts County (1862)
Nottingham Forest (1865)
Chesterfield (1867)
Sheffield Wednesday (1867)
Rotherham United (1870)

Stoke are disqualified for trying to claim another club's history.

Don't Sheff Utd try and claim a very early date of founding on the basis that there was a club called 'Sheffield' , even though the two clubs are different. If they do, it's pure garbage. Sheffield F.C. are recognised by FIFA as the oldest football club (1857), and they're still going, albeit in th...

noise Stoke, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, and Chesterfield are all older than Reading.
And Notts County are older than any of them. 1862.

The Crystal Palace that were formed in 1861 have no connection to the current League club, who started in 1905.

Looks like the pedestrian access from this direction will be as crap as it ever was. What pedestrian access ? All those who can;t afford the car park will be bussed in or get the train to Green Park - they won't allow anyone to actually walk to our nice new ground..... They're installing teleporter...

cmonurz Maybe, maybe not. Mr A is one of the few nobbers I have ever met (albeit very briefly), since when his moniker has seemed somewhat ironic.

For the most part, yes, but having stood near him up at Saltergate I have found it's entirely justified at times!
