Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Yeah I have lumped on that cheers. Seen some absolutely crazy bets lately on skybet on both teams to score on both halves..... people winning 10 to 15 grand from a quid. I have got one for 1 quid and returns 39 grand Ipswich game, maidenhead game, Peterborough game and wolves games BOTH teams to sc...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

I wonder if Sunday's game v Arsenal will provide the goalfest that makes the Premier League so watchable throughout the world but at the same time shows some of the worst defending (not just Liverpool or Arsenal, our whole league). Until we produce good defenders in this country England will never w...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

I totally agree BR0B0T, and it's the point that Carragher was trying to get over to Redknapp the other day after whatever game it was. The way Liverpool are set up exposes the back four too much. It makes them great to watch, and great going forwards, but it really does mean that a decent defender ...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

I remember this. That famous Crystanbul night. So that's where Mr Angry has got to (in the middle). That guy in the middle has a face within a face...the disappearing man, the dopey glasses face, the invisible man...there's so much going on in that gif He could probably do with a bit of the speed-w...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Defence isn't just about having good defenders It's a fairly significant part of it though..... I hear ya, however.... Man City bought the top rated CB's that most big teams were also pursuing (Mangala, Otamendi etc). These players looked outstanding at their previous teams possibly because they we...

Re: RUMOUR - Shane Long (lol)

He had one great season for us and I remember fans at one time moaning that we had let Simon Cox go but had kept Shane Long. Don't get me wrong I still think he'd be a great player at this level but I'd much prefer us to spend the money on Sam Gallagher. I see that Villa and Derby are after him and...

Re: RUMOUR - Shane Long (lol)

If Shane was just one year older would we think this transfer unlikely? Interesting to compare him to Jason Roberts. The following is JR's total career including his important contribution at Reading, when he was 33/34. He didn't score a shed-load of goals but was very important to our promotion se...

Re: CONFIMRED - Leandro Bacuna

I didn't realise he was Dutch. So far the Dutch invasion has been about 6/10 when mainly considering Joey and Beerens. I thought this guy was a full-back but unfortunately he may be a "utility" player, i.e one who is quite good wherever he plays or one that is not very good wherever he pla...

Re: BFTG - Fulham

A lot of over-reaction here. Football fans are spoilt. If you can't see the difference between the football we played Saturday in a frustrating result against some of the dross served up under previous managers, then a bit of wider perspective required. We played alright - this team now looks very,...

CountryRoyal Such a shame. He's a big part of why we've had such a solid defence the couple of years.

Really? I'm sure he was a winger in his playing days...

A full back.
Maybe he felt that all his efforts to make Gunter a better defender have failed so it is time to move on.

Re: The 2017/18 season preview/expectation and build up thread

Personally I expect this season to be a lot tougher. For a start Villa and Derby have very talented squads but now have proper managers in place for their first full season so I expect them to be challenging at the top end. I think Middlesboro have a good squad for this level and although I'm not c...

Either him or Barrow would be most welcome-both are lightning quick so hopefully the rest of the players would keep up.

Re: CONFIMRED - Lewis Grabban

Having seen quite a bit of him over the years I was pleased when we signed him on loan last season. Unfortunately I feel that he is not the player that he was even if we did use him too often as a winger. What I didn't like was that when the ball was played up to him it invariably didn't stick and h...

Re: RUMOUR: Gunter to Boro

Very harsh saying he failed last year! Getting to the play offs was definitely a success from where we were and he was excellent in the final My point about faiiure is that he was part of a team that remains a Championship side that finished many points off the top. He failed in the Premier League-...

"excellent in the final"?
I think "excellent" is a bit of over-hype.

Re: RUMOUR: Gunter to Boro

At least in these post-Mad Man days we hopefully won't get the "this is like a new signing, blah, blah " twaddle. My opinion FWIW is that this is a signing for the Championship and not one for a club with strong ambition for promotion. This is his level and no higher and he was one of a te...

Re: George Boydd

Oilroyal at 32 he'd be a good 2 year signing with experience of geting out of the Championship both with Burnley and Hull and his 100 or so Premier League apps. But I think he'll go beyond our wage structure maybe to Villa or Derby.

Burnley don't pay big wages-am another one who has always liked the player.

I was down right miffed with my fellow fans today. I sang, my boy joined in, even my 8 year old daughter wearing 2 Kingsley stickers on her cheeks started a UUUURRRRZZZZ at some point.... And yet..... I was glared at, and surrounded by a small amount of rhythmic clapping..... I backed the boys........

Re: BFTG - Wembley

5 pages and nobody has said much about Joey. Seeing the line-up I thought that Joey would play as a holding midfielder along with Evans but he actually played as a left-sided sweeper and didn't do very well at that either. Having him there should have meant the wing-backs could safely bomb forward b...
