Re: Euro 2016 Thread

We did. He was ok, but never looked like scoring and didn't have Garath Bale behind him to pick up the slack. That was a much much better second half. Still a pass too many too often and not zipping it along to stretch the opposition enough. Trying to do a little too much in the middle and snatchin...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Little stat I found - only 8 English sides have ever paid more than £20m for a player - yet Manchester City have done it 19 times, Chelsea 15, Manchester United 12, and Liverpool 9. Money talks eh? I would like to know how many of those players turned out to be shit? We have the internet now, with ...

Re: Buy big or play the youth

We need to improve our first team to have a chance of success next year. This generally works best if a maximum of 3 or 4 players are added to an existing set up, so we should look to buying about five really good players over the summer, and hope that only a couple of them turn out rubbish. The res...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Brum Royal With transfer fees heading ever increasingly up, how far are we from the first £100m player?

It can't be long. The Premier League teams have a significant extra bit of money this year and Man Utd would have to play something like that sum if they wanted Bale, Ronaldo or even Harry Kane.

Re: England - the future....

If Rooney hadn't been there, Alli, Kane and Vardy could all have played more centrally and it would have been a lot better. If he had been replaced by Sturridge or Sterling, we would have had some pace on the wings as well. Roy has such a difficult decision to make! The easy way out would be to save...

Re: Euro 96 v Euro 16

Watching the Alan Shearer documentary last night got me thinking how good a team we actually had back then and should have won the competition (if only Gazza didn't hesitate when the ball came across the goal) So if you had to pick a starting xi using that squad and this one - what would your XI be...

Re: England - the future....

I did the BBC team selector thingy. I reckon it'll be http://i.imgur.com/T73irUa.jpg Worst England defence in my lifetime I reckon. I'm not sure it is. Any team without David James as goalie has got to be one goal better per game than a team with him. Also, we have passed a bit better since the arr...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Will we now finally no longer hear football people (managers, players, pundits, fans) spouting the usual rubbish about the grossly over-rated Premier League being the "best" in the world. I doubt it but one can hope. It's the best to watch in the world. And Liverpool's struggles on Wednes...

Re: CheLOLsea

It was a fantastic game. Chelsea had Spurs in the palm of their hand. Willian, Fabregas and Costa can never have wound any team up so successfully without getting the red cards their efforts deserved. I hope the FA can keep a level head when they review the video evidence.

Re: BFTG Preston

Thought Johnson looked good for them. Was their best player in the away game as well. I was wandering if we should be buying the best players of other teams in the Championship. It would be more likely to be successful than getting in more South American internationals or reserves from famous Europ...

Fair play to the West Brom player for not going down like a sack of spuds.

Good for him.

It looks like a punch so he should miss the last three games: good news for England?

Re: Law Changes

Penalty Red Card Suspension Triple Punishment It's only a triple if it's inside the box though. For professional fouls, I've no problem with the triple punishment. I do, however, agree with not giving a red card for those "fouls" where an attacker just runs alongside the defender and goes...

Re: Are Leicester genuine title contenders?

Win the title or not, the three points Spurs took last night were another step towards the campaign's objective.... Champions League football in the season to follow. I am,of course biased to a degree, but I cannot recollect a more powerful side(emphasis on power from front to back) than this curren...

Dislike 3, but agree with the principal of 4. The current triple punishment is wrong. I'd like to see a pen and yellow given in all cases, except where a certain goal is denied (eg deliberate hand ball on the line). The award of a penalty is adv the attacking team in almost all circumstances apart ...

There might be a 3-game ban for McShane from this.

Is there a video anywhere of what Williams did wrong?

It is a bit of a shame as these two would have been in my top three for player of the season.

LWJ Top judges are to review the case of footballer Ched Evans who was convicted and jailed in 2012 for raping a 19-year-old woman.

Does that mean he is likely to have the case over-turned? They don't have appeals without a good reason, do they?

2016/17 starts with this game. We will play quite well as we add another game to the unbeaten home run which will continue well into next winter.
