Re: Best 4 Reading players since 1970?

Apart from Friday in the 70's this is an impossibility. There have been so many who have made outstanding contributions to our Club, and so many unsung heroes too!

Re: Best RFC pitch invasions of our time

Best pitch invasion at Elm Park during the game was by Portsmouth knuckle-draggers in 1976. They took the Southbank before kick off and after hundreds of them invaded the pitch (after going 2-0 down) caused havoc in the Tilehurst End. Remember Hetzke standing his ground and casually watching them as...

Re: Back from the game - Donnie

Hardly an inspiring performance against the leagues whipping boys but in taking the positives Good on McD taking some bold steps At least Church scored (from where a similar postion Torres couldn't) The back 5 looked better/ more progressive. Tabb had slightly more of a clue than Karacan (slightly) ...

Re: We need to do better - Alex Pearce

My money is on the sun rising in the east and setting in the west tomorrow. Good lord. These guys are paid thousands a week for 90 minutes "work" plus 3 half days training and they continuously come out with this crap. Who was it famously took their team down the coal mines?..................

Surely a more reflective/appropriate poll would be "will we escape relegation" ?

Re: Team for Donny

TBH I think we need a change of shape more than anything, we're predictable and too easily over-run from midfield. It's also too easy to shut our attacks down by doubling up on wingers. I'd like to see this please: ...............Federici Shaun....Pearce..Gorkss....Mills ..........Jem........Howard...

Re: Andy Griffin

i cannot believe, though predictable, that some on here are already belittling le fondre and want him dropped. he is the most natural of our finishers , BUT HE MUST HAVE SERVICE. Why is he? Since when? look at their scoring records. le fondre is a natural finisher with the best goals to games ratio...

Re: Back after the game (in da jazz bar)

We need a creative midfielder who can play a variety of passes = Steve Sidwell. Currently on the fringes at Fulham. You may have heard of him. Sidwell is not a creative midfielder. He isn't an especially good passer, either, even at this level. <Head interfaces with wall and bangs repeatedly until ...

Re: Back after the game (in da jazz bar)

would be nice if we actually had a midfield RG30.

Leighetwood may as well have been at home counting his millions and Karacan runs around slightly less well than a headless Andy Hughes, without a positioning clue.

Re: Drw your own conclusions

We aren't being outplayed, we're doing things right then doing something wrong, or hitting a brick wall and not being able to break it down. Is this a piss-take or are you real? We play a team below us in the league, at home, and they have seven shots on target and we have none and you say "We...

Re: McAnuff- New captain

What actual difference does it make if someone is captain? Surely it's just an armband. Certain players will either lead or they won't, I doubt being made captain will change that. It's more the psychological thing/aspect as (badly) experienced by Ian Botham and David Beckham (for examples). Just b...

Simon's Church TBH though, we made it to the play-off final just by basically lumping it forward and percentage balls down the line.

Now we are not even capable of that!

Re: Back after the game (in da jazz bar)

As I have said before it is our central midfield that is the problem. It is too one dimensional and the opposition know that all they are going to do is play the ball wide to Kebe and McAnuff. If it doesn't work they just try the same again. And again. And again. We need a creative midfielder who c...

SCIAG Despite the recent poor results, this team is just a small step away from chasing (and quite possibly getting) a playoff place.

However, I think we're showing bits of promise despite the results. We aren't being outplayed,

Re: Leigertwood One Season Wonder?

What has happened to Leigertwood he is not the same player we saw on the pitch last season. Is he carrying an injury or has our style of football changed that much that the system play not right for him? No. He has just recently signed a lucrative permanent contract that's all. No need to try to ha...

Re: First Half

The Real Sandhurst Royal Six games into the new season and we have failed once again to score in the first half.

This needs sorting out as we need to do more in the first 45 and be fully committed to putting in a 100% shift for the 90 which I have not seen to date. .

And we have failed to win or even draw in 5!
