Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

Here's where I'm at. Football is broken - you have to pump in more money than you can make, unless you happen to be very lucky in the Premier league (over and over again) But, the experiment of the last few years means that a sugar daddy who owns the club as a hobby, throws money at it and gambles ...

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

Fcuk me, you create threads to start debate but I didn't expect the idea that new owners should start paying bills and bringing normality back to be controversial.

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

If the new owners are the rumoured investment group, then their #1 priority will be to push for promotion out of this league - sustaining losses at this level will not be acceptable beyond a season or two if the strategy is to promote and flip the club. Whilst the wish list is commendable, I can't ...

New owners' top 5 priorities

I probably should wait until a takeover is confirmed, but hopefully Dai is on his way out. In terms of how I'd like to see incoming owners go about business, I think there are several priorities to focus on: 1) Communicate with the fans Oh how we have missed communication. What is your vision and am...

Re: Looking forward to the 2024-25 season

Consistent 16k - 17k attendances at the SCL.

Knowing you won't lose points won on the pitch.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

What were the general thought on Abrefa? I thought he had a decent game. A few slips and didn't offer a huge amount going forward, but defended fairly well given Barnsley used the width for space well. I don't think he's threatening Yiadom's place yet, but worth hanging on to and giving more time? ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

I really enjoyed the game yesterday. It was a fairly end to end and overall I thought we were the better team. Oddly, it all seemed a bit subdued when the game ended. Has there been any mention of another points deduction incoming? Anyway, changing the subject this could be the first season I can r...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

Strange atmosphere at FT. It felt like neither the fans nor the players worked out we were safe, so there were no celebrations. Probably the players frustrated at the equaliser having gone ahead late on.

As it stands, not mathematical safe and won't be even if we grab a winner.

Re: Weekend Football

Franchise FC What’s happening at the top of the Championship ?
Does no-one want to go up ?

Reminds me of the 3 way race to stay in the Championship between us, Wolves and Brum in 2009. We won.

Re: Weekend Football

Can't decide who I'd rather see fcuk up promotion out of Leeds and Leicester. Is Ipswich and Southampton as top 2 still a possibility?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

I've amended my original post but I'll reiterate, players like Knibbs, Wing and Smith are now the older experienced heads and they've really led by example. Pure speculation on my part but, given Hutchinson's post match interview at Shrewsbury, I wonder if he was chirping in the background. If you ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

I seem to remember from video clips of the incident, Selles was saying "Have a go at me but cut the players some slack". The upshot of a lot of that flack is that the more experienced players who should be providing the experience guidance and level headedness to see out games haven't bee...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

They must be in serious trouble if they stay down. When the IDC's judgements are published on points deductions, they always detail aggravating and mitigating circumstances. What would it be for Leicester? 12 points for FFP breaches, doubled to 24 for being massive dicks about it? If Leiceste...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The Athletic estimates their revenue will hit c. £20m this season due to the US presence and sponsors that the TV series has generated. That's a mid table Championship budget. If they can hit those sort of levels, promotion from L1 is definitely achievable, but probably beyond them next season give...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

If next season starts well, I can see the average attendance reaching the 17k mark. Good for the team and also good financially. 3k extra tickets must be about £50k more revenue a game, so c. £1m a season which is significant in L1. Fixture list will have an impact; midweek attendances are always lo...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Benchmark for me are the Portsmouth and Bolton away games. What did they have over us, to turn us over so emphatically. Style of play? Fast wide players? Quality of player in certain positions? Match off against that with what we have now and we would be just fine, if we can find that type of playe...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Now safety in L1 is pretty much guaranteed, I wonder how quickly the takeover will move. The expectation of EFL checks was 3 - 4 weeks (I think they mentioned this to STAR) and we're about 2 weeks in. What else is likely to be a deal breaker? I always thought the biggest threat on the buyers side w...
