Re: New Manager

We havent given this much thought have we?
Bearing that in mind, is it time for a bet on Scott Marshall? You might even win the bet on a technicality.

Re: New Manager

To be honest, every option seems at best to be a bit meh from where I'm standing. There's not a single one that makes me think "That would be a great appointment". I'd love to see an appointment that can build something but the priority must be not getting relegated. It's a shit position ...

Re: New Manager

Parky as a player is before my time but IMO, overall, he has a strong record of getting smaller clubs to do well League 1 Colchester 2005-06 Automatic Promotion in Second Place 2006-07 Caretaker, then manager from Jan. Relegated 2007-08 Charlton 4th, Made Play-offs, losing on penalties in semis. Sa...

Re: New Manager

I think parky would do a decent, if not particularly inspiring job I’d back him to get a bit of spirit going and sort out the short term issues. Can’t see our mid term ambition being any higher than mid table with him in charge though It would be the most completely pointless sideways move since we...

Re: New Manager

I dont understand Jonathan Low's piece - isnt Luis Castro just the sort of personality we've been pushing out the door for the last few months now? Still, its the only evidence we have so far. Im not massively fussed by Clement leaving, and this would be a good time for it, with the transfer window ...

Re: FA cup 3rd round draw

The reality will be closer to whatever mediocre championship team we've already played in the League Cup.

Away.

Draw with them and play them 5 times in a season.

i still think Clement should get one window without Tevreden.
After that, he's fair game.

Re: Clement

Which 'era' are you referring to and what, if anything, is different or unique about it with Clement? As far as the club's 'current situation', Clement was going to be a 'massive upgrade' with player's that 'have talent', some think his summer signings were good, and quite a few predicted Top 10? H...

Re: Rumour - Phil Parkinson

But who has that would be available? . Well to use Horse Racing parlance, Parkinson is 'Exposed' - he's had plenty of experience around this level and his limit is well known. If you want to replace Clement, which I dont particularly (not yet) you could choose somebody who is 'unexposed' if you can...

Re: Rumour - Phil Parkinson

ID hate Parkinson as manager, because I like him so much, it would make any dry spell in results that much more upsetting. It was the same with McDermott's second spell at the club. I also dont buy that 'even with their problems' that his position at Bolton proves he's just what we want. Parky has n...

Re: Will going down be a bad thing? poll added.

Bournemouth Bournemouth have had a sugar daddy for quite some time now. Portsmouth We are nowhere near the financial trouble that they were in. If they can (eventually) turn around their fortunes, so can we. The main reason I think going down could actually be good for us, is that we are making fun...

Re: BFT - I don’t know what to call it

Your stats on Aluko were wrong btw. He only played 5 mins against Brentford, and we got a draw. Woops - rejigged it as I misread the substitution stats for 4 games. Pretty similar PPG though. With Aluko - P43 W9 D13 L21 - PPG - 0.93 Without Aluko - P9 W1 D3 L5 - PPG - 0.66 Thats interesting. Im a f...

Re: BFT - I don’t know what to call it

Is there a good resource for points per game by player? I'd like to see what they are for Aluko and how'd they compare. Normally I roll my eyes at Scape goats but can't help feeling this one might be justified. Whoscored is pretty good usually but I wouldn't rely too much on stats. They're cold and...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by the season starts here

If you put any stock in xG, shows we did a little bit of a smash and grab on Preston who xG suggests should have won 3-2 (2.5xG V 1.5) rather than lost. Will take that any day of the week though. Important to get off the mark - and with 2 other teams who have struggled so far this season coming up ...

Re: Tevreden Out, Nani In

So, we clearly don't know the full ins and outs here but this is how I think things are at the club currently: RG was brought in with at least one of his tasks to cut costs across the board, so that whatever cash we do have can be maximised for squad additions. This meant taking over some responsib...
