Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

If someone can currently only afford 6 games a season how will they be able to afford more games just because there are less to choose from? This would only increase average attendance if the pick and choose types currently attend more than 17 games surely Think you've got the logic wrong there SF....

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

I've said it before, but the problem is that there are just too many professional clubs in this country. If you look at most leagues on the continent, anything below tier 2 is mostly semi-pro teams. Having four professional divisions (and a fair few in the Conference also professional) is too many f...

Re: Record Watch

That's it, Bangor City, in the Welsh Premier League.

According to Wikipedia, there's only 12 clubs in that division, so they must have already done the double on some of the other clubs  .

Re: Record Watch

Stelling mentioned on Saturday that some team (must be non-league) had equalled our record of 13 wins from the start of the season. Anyone else catch it and know who it was?

Re: Refereeing Standards

I am actually completely sick to death of hearing TV Pundits, managers, fans & players bleeting on about how crap Refs are today. It constantly surprises me how many basic mistakes in interpreting the rules made by managers, players, and pundits I pick up on, even with my own meagre understandi...

Re: So i guess Blackpool will now get fined?!

Thing is, where do you draw the line as far as 'too many changes' is concerned? If you say 10 changes is 'too many' (as the FA did with Wolves last year), what about 9?

If 9 is 'too many', what about 8?

Still too many? OK, how about 7? 6? 5?

Just where do you draw the line on this?

I'd have Howie above Shep as well - at least he didn't cripple our best ever centre-back.

Silver Fox Do the FAW still ignore shocking tackles, such as the one Chopra's just commited, if the victim is one of theirs aswell?

Ref was looking straight at it and I didn't even see a yellow card produced, let alone the red that that tackle merited.

Re: FA Cup Proper

The odd thing is, before the media started on it, I suspect a lot of the MKDons fans would have only the vaguest idea of why this (potential) game is such a big deal.

Re: Michael Chopra

Can somebody please tell me just how this guy gets away with so many absolutely horrendous red-card challenges? Couldn't believe the one on Sunday. Ref was looking straight at it as well. Although you know that, even had he been sent off, the FAW would have rescinded the card in time for him to pla...

Scottish refereeing

Not seen this mentioned on here yet: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/9143038.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/9143508.stm Looks like the ref is trying to make the lino the scapegoat in arranging the lie told to the assessor.

Royalee Awful player, already cost them a goal.

Having now seen the Barnsley goal I have to say congratulations for providing definitive evidence, if any more were needed, that you are an idiot

Re: Foreigners with nicknames on their shirts

What's wrong with 'pea' being your nickname? I wish I could remember who but some average championship player had a nickname on their bck the other day, was cringeworthy. 'chucho' was another, that was made up wasn't it? No exactly a nickname, but didn't Tyrone Mears used to have 'Ty' on his shirt?

Re: Own goals

Is this the time to roll out the old 'Ian Richardson scored two own goals for Reading while playing for Notts County, which is twice the number of goals Paul Brayson scored for Reading while playing for Reading' line?

6ft Kerplunk I'd quite like Warnock to get them promoted. All his media buddies can tell us how great he is and then we can all LOL as he keeps up his 100% top flight relegation record.

But it'll be Marcello Lippi in the Prem for them :)

Re: The footballer gets arrested thread

Andy Carroll arrested earlier in the week on charges of assaulting his girlfriend and told he had to go and live with Kevin Nolan. Sounds like he's now had his Range Rover torched on Nolan's drive! Has Carroll's other court case happened yet? The one from where he got arrested back in December last...

Of all people, AP, I'd expect you to know that football didn't start in 1992.

(Overall, agree with the rest of what you've put about DJ BTW)

Long agrees: "I am surprised that we see as few complaints and referrals as we do from policing of football matches.

Maybe there just aren't as many incidents as the FSF would have us believe.
