Re: Best XI in your lifetime. (Excluding the 106 team)

Shaka Hislop Andy Griffin Adrian Williams Keith Curle Ian Harte Scott Taylor Simon Osborne Glyfi Sigurdsson Michael Gilkes Jimmy Quinn Nicky Forster Keith Curle is a player not often talked about as one of the best we've ever had. Went on to play for England. Have we ever had a good right back bar M...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Full match playlist for Wolves at home December 1994. Well worth watching right through this. Southbank in full voice throughout with many chants you don't here often these days! Scott Taylor kicking lumps out of them, got 2 players subbed by half time! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4tQj22...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Good on yer, all those contributing to this thread. There is an effort underway to try and catalogue and capture all Reading's recorded match footage. The bit STAR is focussing on at the moment is the pre Madstad (1998) era. But one element this thread could also help with is the list club-produced...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Thanks Mes. Really enjoying this trips down memory lane. Agree with the sentiments of the 92/93 season. Really thought the club was on the upturn and some great performances that season. For me, the turning point was the performance in a League Cup tie at Watford in the midst of a biblical downpour...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Got lots of snippets lined up from the 1992/93 season. An 8th place finish but for me the season that Reading really turned the corner, leading to an upswing that lasted 20 years. Rather painstaking trawling through VHS, but no better time to do this I guess! Watch this space. Thanks Mes. Really en...

Re: The Non - League thread

What is quite amusing (not really amusing) is that some clubs now missing out on promotion their efforts during the season had clearly earned had invested in players / wages well above the norm for the standard they were at in order to win / buy promotion, quite “happy” making a loss in the process...

2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Worth its own thread this one as this is not going to be easy to sort out. I think that they will do everything that they possibly can to complete the current season. Even if that means waiting until the summer. If they null and void the season, or settle it on PPG, someone is going to get fcked ove...

Annoying , but probably valid article. After all, for all we know some team in the Bulgarian 2nd division has got 107.

Re: The Non - League thread

I tried out AFC Stoneham last week. An excellent facility down there. I would imagine if they want to progress however they need to do alot of work with regards to the actual playing facility i.e. enclosed fencing and turnstiles etc. Basingstoke Town - that rumbles on. Dont think this found covenan...

Re: The Non - League thread

Interesting info here about the restructure of Step 5 and 6 next season. https://resources.thefa.com/images/ftimages/data/league522238936/89140.pdf For local football there is a noticeable projected shift west for the Hellenic League. Which essentially means that it will no longer be the local leagu...

Re: Bowen Out.

We had 8 points after 11 games, nearly a quarter of a season. To get to around the 74 point mark needed to grab a play-off spot we would have needed to pick up 66pts in 35 games that is challenging for the title form. We are picking up points at a rate now that, if we had been picking them up at th...

Re: Record Watch 2019/20

It's looking like we're going to need to find something else to sing about . . . . . . With the league title in the bag, they will drop off. Very hard to keep going once you've done enough. They will also start resting players up for the Champions League. I think you grossly underestimate the menta...

Re: Bowen Out.

There has been an improvement under Bowen, no doubt about that. But given the huge amounts the club has invested in player recruitment, I would say that a top 6 finish (or top 6 form) is the absolute bare minimum the club should be achieving this season. Anything else should be considered a failure...
