Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Plymouth fire Ian Foster after just 3 months in the job after a run of just 1 point and 2 goals in the last 9 games.

Re: The final 10

Rovers have been getting steadily worse as their very outside chance of a play-off spot disappeared and there was no chance of them being dragged into a relegation battle. Over a 12 game form, they are 17th and that is the best it gets, over 10, 8, 6 and 4 they are lower in the table and have failed...

Re: The Magic Number Thread

Yeah 90% sounds about right - I am going to assume no more points off now as wages must have been paid and with the loan payments for April should be made on time. Looking at form over past 6 for us down then you get the following: 1. Reading 9 pts 2. Port Vale 7 pts 3. Cambridge 7pts 4. Fleetwood 6...

Re: Rival Watch

They'll be ecstatic that Charity FC are turning up then. 4 defeats in 12 (3 against the current top 3 sides) really isn`t so bad. Our away record after losing the first 8 away is W3, D5, L4 which is not shabby when 3 of those losses were the top 3. I think we'll win at either Bristol Rovers or Burt...

Especially as it's 5 defeats in the last 12 - have won 6 though - so it's not too shabby really. In context, only 9 sides have lost less than 5 games in the l...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

Surprised you all missed Chesterfield. They won the National League by a mile, and were on course to beat 106 easily. They seem to have gone on cruise mode and have only one win in five. Lost again yesterday, cannot now do 106 8) If that league counted then it would already have been beaten. Wrexha...

Re: Rival Watch

Burton, Port Vale and Cheltenham are 5, 6 & 7 points back with 5, 6 & 7 games to play respectively. It’s a tough shout to get 1 PPG more than the team you’re chasing so I’d fancy our chances that 2 of them won’t manage it Agreed, I think next week will pretty much finish off the relegation ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

Weird game in many ways especially if you look at the stats as we equalled the amount of shots of Bolton and they only had 1 more on target than us but they probably had higher quality chances. Can't do much about a 25 yarder in the top corner but the ball should have just been cleared quicker, Dors...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Morecombe's owner woes continue as they are the latest to be put under a registration embargo for failure to pay tax on time. The owner there essentially refuses to finance the club sufficiently or sell for a realistric sum. Sounds familiar.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

With the exclusivity announced, has there been a confirmation from the club that HMRC and players wages will be paid in full and on time for the rest of the season, thus eliminating the possibility of the suspended deduction of a further 2 points being enforced? If we hadn't paid HMRC (due last wee...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Of course, which is what I infer in the last paragraph. We obviously don't know who the other bidders are/were, so it's possible these are the best option atm. I'm concerned by a number of red flags from the limited information we know about this group. And obviously, they may not get EFL approval ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The sweet spot is rich enough to invest well, but not so rich they can afford to piss it all away and it not matter to them. You want them to need success so they will take their decisions on how to invest seriously. I think we could reasonably argue that our club is indeed in the "sweet spot&...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I've taken a few days to process the situation and I still feel a little uneasy about the group who have supposedly been given exclusivity. I haven't read the past ten or so pages, so some of this may have come up already. If it is Chiron Sports Group, their website notes they're funded by Apeiron ...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

The main question to ask is what happens if it doesn't work. The buy low, develop players, use the academy, sell high strategy sounds great. But football is competitive and these strategies are not simple to execute. If we're still in L1 in 5 years and the investors are disappointed, what's their p...

So if the rumours are correct and the prospective new owners are buying us as an Arbitrage play - with funds from various exotic industries (crypto/longevity biotech) - the protests continue or they stop? Do we want sugar daddies who gamble on making money (for themselves) in the prem or not? I was...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Either way, seems quite promising. If they are supposed to be our main owners, I'd not be that encouraged ... hopefully they are acting on someone else's behalf. What doesn't encourage you about them - of the 2 money men, one at least is a billionaire and both seem to have a track record of investi...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

So if it is Chiron then what we have learnt over the past few days: William Storey potentially put any deal back a couple of months, and could even have scuppered a realistic deal but putting in a phantom 50m deal which put an unrealistic figure in Dai's head. Then Wycombe's interest in the training...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

If it was the Wilf brothers then we could have won the owners jackpot. They’ve been transformational for the Vikings, who now have the best facilities, infrastructure and stadium in the NFL. Not going to get excited though until something confirmed. Would love to see football run more like the NFL....
