Re: A bit worrying

I agree that it makes no sense to proceed with the expansion plans & that JM is an astute businessman. But what I don't understand is why they drew up the expansion plans in the first place. All of the arguments being put forward as to why the extension shouldn't be built applied in 2006 when t...

Re: doyle

Possibly the major part of Coppell's thinking is that for various reasons we've not been able to keep together a consistent central defensive partnership for much of the season so he probably reasons that doesn't want to disrupt another position in the back four.

Re: JM is confident we'll stay up

I would suspect there may have been £4-5 million available for a transfer given our past bids, whether the wages budget would reflect the needs of say an established premier league player I would doubt. The impact of half the squad knocking on the door demanding rises could be destabilising and I d...

Hahnemann's Hairdresser Kirkland ahead of Green, Davis and the fact that in a squad of 30 there are 8 center backs (12 Defenders overall) yet only 5 strikers baffles me. .

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

Big boost for Middlesbrough – Alfonso Alves granted a work permit. Yeah, could be a very good signing. Interestingly though thats been the only activity inwards from them yet they've probably got the best set of results of any of the bottom 8 during January without actually adding anyone. EDIT. I'v...

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

I see Bolton have managed to sign a PL Centre Back. 28 matches in the PL over 4 seasons. He's played more games in the Championship. To me £5m for that experience is way over the top for that level of experience. (I'm not saying he's crap, just that he doesn't have the experience to warrant that fe...

Re: Villa Match moved

Having said that I do think the club are rather willingly prostituting themselves to the likes of Sky because in their words 'It is ultimately good for the club'. They might find themselves rethinking the wisdom and ultimate good of letting Sky p*ss off their fans if Sky lose interest in the club e...

Re: So fed up

Yes, we need to step up to the next level. Some people seem to think in order to step up we only need to spend a few extra quid here and there. I'm not so sure about that. I think the reality is to take that step will cost us a considerable amount more. It'll mean a wholesale restructuring of wages...

Re: Creating from midfield / officially bored of Convey

Baffling that Cox wasn't on the bench. What was the point of having both Rosenior and DLC ? As for Marek starting, i suspect that once we decided to play 4-4-2 against Chelsea's 3 man central midfield the general opinion was that he'd have spent much of the game chasing shadows in midfield which is ...

Re: "Super Tuesday" (Merged)

It's just depressing that after last season this is what we've come to. And yes we over achieved, but it did it cause we were that good and now, starting not going for Europe (or at least saying that was the case) we've taken our foot of the gas totally. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that ...

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

Like Vision I'm not totally convinced about Routledge-I thought that a similar player to him in Jobi McAnuff was going to go on to be a star and I felt the same about Ashley Young when he first played against us for Watford-same goes for Lee Cook. Only Young has really progressed but the others are...

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

I'd agree with you that O'Neill is a player i would like to have seen here but once again no-one actually knows whether we enquired about him or whether we had any interest whatsoever. Also people talk as if these potential signings would definitely have improved us. There isn't a lot of doubt in m...

Re: Speculation - Scott Brown

I'm sorry, who is he? "If I had chosen Reading I would probably be fighting a relegation battle next season and then maybe disappearing into the Championship. In two years' time people would have been saying, 'Remember that lad Scott Brown - whatever happened to him?'" So after the stick ...

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

It was discussed many times on here how serious Little was and their were signals coming from the club that was the case at the end of last season. There were certainly doubts but at the time we still had Seol and Oster whilst Fae had been signed after we'd originally seen him play there for Ivory ...

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

It's a bit worrying that Kebe see's himself as more of a centre forward or left winger though. Especially when you consider that Coppell hasn't seen the lad play. What gets me about the right wing situation is that they said in August that they didn't know how long it was going to take Little to co...

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

Not quite sure what I really expected from the transfer window, Matejovsky was certainly a step in the right direction but didn't expect our only other signing (and let's face it can you see us doing anything else) to be an unknown who's preferred position is - reportedly - left wing! Despite the a...

Re: Chelsea Prediction thread

Scarface 5 straight league defeats, down to 17th in the league after a crushing 3v0 defeat. After the UTD performance Coppell will yet again bottle it and go 5-4-1 away from home, so we won't get a kick. There that's positive.

I've convinced myself we're relegation fodder now.
