Re: Early Expectations for 2015/16?

Best you can get at the moment is 6/1 at betfair and bet365, couple of the bookies are only offering 4/1 6-1 for what exactly? And 4-1 for what exactly? I mean, I could look but that would kind of negate the point of forums generally. Sheesh. Tough crowd. As the quoted post not only mentioned the o...

Re: Early Expectations for 2015/16?

I remember seeing us quoted as 20/1 for the title in the summer of 2005 by 442. Highlight of that summer: listening to 5Live run through the promotion contenders, focusing on QPR, Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton. A Reading fan texted in to say that "Kitson, Lita and Sidwell could...

Re: Pearce to Derby - CONFIMRED

This is a bit like when Coppell let Forster and Williams both leave. Everyone was a bit sceptical at the time. But he replaced them with Doyle, Long and Sonko and the rest is history. Surely the success of this analogy is signing the equivalent of Doyle, Sonko and Long - and we've havent looked lik...

Re: Summer Rebuild

Feds was always going to win PotS and genuinely had been good all season. There were very few contenders. No, Mackie would have won it but for a post Wembley surge in votes for Fed. I'd agree that Feds was pretty much our most consistent performer but you can't argue with the facts..... ....or can ...

Re: Summer Rebuild

To be fair Feds won POTS on a post Wembley sympathy vote and Pearce was only the part time stand in captain along with Gunter. . Dont agree with either of these statements. Feds simply didnt have much competition - but he is a decent keeper. He's not great, by any stretch of the imagination but he'...

Re: Summer Rebuild

Can the thread be retitled Summer Demolition? I'd prefer "Much Needed Reality Check" The sooner we off load these over rated and highly over paid players, the sooner this club can get back on an even keel. Even at his best, Federici wasn't fit to lace Hahnemann's boots while the number of...

Re: Early Expectations for 2015/16?

I have a really bad feeling about this season. As I said on another thread, this has all the hallmarks of our last League 1 relegation, especially if we spend much of the season trying to find a decent goalkeeper. Last season never looked good, but it didn't have relegation written on it - but this ...

Re: The womens world cup

i remember this time when I spent a Saturday evening shaking vomit out of my system after an overestimated evening in Hackney. It went on for a while, and didnt please anybody.

That was better than the Rugby world cup.

Re: Pearce to Leeds

After being on a contract originally framed around membership of the PL, and narrowly avoiding relegation last season.... Too damned right we expect him to take a pay cut. He's one of our most consistent players. We need a good CB and he's one of ours. if Derby offer him better, he'll go there at 2...

Re: Pearce to Leeds

Pearce is what? 26? And Team Captain? And we expect him to take a wage cut? You just cant expect somebody at that stage of his career to do that - loyalty or not. if we gambled that he wouldnt find alternative employment - well that backfired. I very much hope we can still secure his services becaus...

Re: Federici - a tribute

WRT Feds - he was a decent keeper. We all knew he had an upper limit of ability, but lets face it, its higher than the club's current position. I'd also like to say that Im not sure I want a team with several players who used to be paid more - it could be a bit demoralising for them. But what concer...

Re: Summer Rebuild

Build the team around Obita, Mcleary and Mackie (if we can get a contract going for him). Id like to see Pearce and Karacan stay because they have good recent Reading history, and keep hold of anybody under-21. The rest are, in my eyes, dispensible. As for the rebuild. Two strikers. Preference for o...

Re: less prolific than Pog

Snowball Appearances are meaningless. Goals per minute tells the story.

Points Per Game would be my ultimate stat - which given that we've just finished 4 points above a Rotherham side, (who themselves were deducted three points), Im not holding my breath that Pog's is better than Hunt's.

Re: 2012-2015: worst signings

You have clearly not read it though. It is pretty clear that a signing who has never played has to be a worse signing than one who has contributed week in week out. On your logic if we signed Messi and he never actually played for us that would be a good signing. That is obviously nonsense. Sorry. ...
