Re: WC2010 - as seen on TV

Even the Beeb are pissing me off this tournament, though. I've tuned in a couple of times to the end of evening highlight shows as I've missed a couple of games during the day only to find these programmes show all of 3 minutes of highlights of each game and the rest is filled with stories and inter...

Re: Goodbye Marek!

I did think that when he was getting a run of starts under Brendan he would finally start showing his worth on a regular basis and start dominating games, but it never really happened - much like his whole career here. Glad we got some money for him and I hope he does well for Sparta.

Re: WC2010 - as seen on TV

It is the ITV commentators more than the studio guests that get on my tits. At least the studio bits are comparatively brief, you have to put up with Clive Tyldesley or Peter Drury for 45 minutes at a time. The annoying thing is that ITV do have a decent commentator - John Champion - but he plays th...

Re: Your 23 man squad for the WC

I was a bit surprised to see how many posters thought that Joe Cole (totally right-footed)should be in the starting eleven playing on the left Cos he is right footed, he'll cut in more which'll leave more space for Ashley Cole to get forward and do what he does best. If you have a out and out winge...

Re: At what point......

As usual we'll go out to the first decent side we meet, which could be as early as the second round if we fail to win our group, or for some reason Germany don't win theirs.

Re: Fed in talks with Spurs

I seem to remember someone on here stating that, whichever club, most fans don't rate their own 'keeper as they all tend to remember the mistakes (which, being the keeper, tend to be far more costly than other players) and forget the decent work put it - & it's probably something I'm guilty of, ...

Re: Fed in talks with Spurs

But it isn't just the buttery-palm clangers Feds makes that make me think this would be good for the club. He doesn't command the penalty area anything like as well as Marcus, is frequently poor with crosses and doesn't communicate with his defenders anything like enough.

Re: Griffin to sign

This is good news about Griff, but disappointing news about Zurab. As has been mentioned above, Gazzer is a very reliable source of news from the club, so it's curious that the club felt we needed additional central defensive cover (and we did) for the last half of the season but they don't think w...

Bit surprised at Vasilev being released as I thought great things were expected of him. Or did his injury really screw things up?

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

I think this is the most shocking on that list:
Steve Clark Assist Man £24,200 £1,258,400 Sep 2008 N/A Contract Sep 2008 - June 2011; Ext Jun 2013 (@Apr 2009)

More than Mike Phelan at Man Utd, reputedly.

Re: DVD?

Very unlikely - not enough of a market to warrant the costs - not just production costs, but editing and the charge that TV companies levy to use their copyright footage. I thought it was the other way round - the club owned the copyright of action on their pitch which they sell to TV companies? Or...

GKs Federici Andersen Hamer McCarthy Current theory is that you need at least 3 GKs on your books so we could prolly loan out one of those, but otherwise it looks a reasonable list. Defenders Rosenior Armstrong Mills Ingimarsson Kelly Pearce Cummings Jeez, we look like light here. Rosenior won't ha...
