Re: Everton

Well said Rawlie. As it happens I am going to the game on Saturday....first and only away game I will go to this season. So what.. I am passionate about the club and always know the score, who is in the side and care very much about how we are doing...perhaps too much as there are more important th...

Re: Your next Friday night guest

Consider a request made. It was me who said he was shy during Saturday's programme. I think that's fair. Compare Mr Madejski's reluctance for media exposure to, say, Tom Hicks, Dave Whelan, Daniel Levy. Anyhoo, I'll let you know if the Chairman says yay or nay. Thanks for your response, although we...

Re: Everton

lol @ the plastics coming out with 'more to life than football' and all this other guff now that the novelty has worn off. Thank you all foryour support, we'll see you in another 137 years. And how do you know it is the plastics? After very nearly 40 years the novelty is beginning to wear off for m...

Re: Coppell's latest backtrack

How much has JM "lost" then? How many games did he see when he was in Malaysia for a year for reasons of tax avoidance? It's cost him around £50 million by popular estimates. For the first 16 years there wasn't any prospect of him getting a penny back. No, he didn't see games when he was ...

Re: Villa Match moved

Having said that I do think the club are rather willingly prostituting themselves to the likes of Sky because in their words 'It is ultimately good for the club'. They might find themselves rethinking the wisdom and ultimate good of letting Sky p*ss off their fans if Sky lose interest in the club e...

Re: Coppell's Big Gamble

Yet Coppell is repeating many of the mistakes that he previously admitted to having made earlier in his career. And talking about his big gamble. Who in their right mind gambles on teams like the Ivory Coast and Cameroon getting knocked out of the ACON early and gives that as yet another justificati...

Re: All the players we 'missed out' on...

They are failing. They are all rubbish. Sack SC, sack the board Hound Mr Mad until he throws it in, or spends the millions of pounds that he's got from Sky, there's almost a never-emptying pot of money there, and we're beating off the players that want to come and play for Reading. Wake up. Come of...

Re: All the players we 'missed out' on...

From Platypus' thread we have all these players who have gone to our rivals to play a major part in securing their survival. So why don't we track just how marvellous they are and how many actually make first team regulars and have a real effect? Perhaps that will see whether the RTGs are right or ...

Re: The table doesn't lie.

I've just found an interesting website which details the turnover, profit, wages/turnover ratio and other stuff for all the PL and League clubs. If we really are getting the reported £40 - 60 million Sky money, why doesn't it show in our turnover? http://www.footballeconomy.com/stats2/eng_reading.h...

Re: welcome to Reading FC

Do you know what? I'm glad none of the doom-mongers round here are in charge of the club. It would have folded long ago. A few bad results and you're losing all sense of perspective. How many people honestly expected us to stay up last season? We've managed two seasons, and we're not down yet. If w...

Your next Friday night guest

Surely it has to be none other than the Chairman of Reading Football Club, Mr John Madjeski, himself? Yesterday your guys on the footie show said that he was a shy person. Shy as a person maybe, but certainly not publicity shy. He didn't appear to mind too much being right in the centre of the spotl...

Re: Reality check

It isn't Coppell you should be blaming for the current state of affairs the decisions are taken by JM and he has been clear and consistent in his pronouncements since winning promotion which can be summarised as: - the club has achieved his original objectives and reached the premier league - JM wi...

Re: Kitson for England

The last thing RFC need now is Kitson being given a call up. At best it will be an unwanted distraction/diversion, at worse he will pick up an injury.

Re: How we stack up against the opposition in terms of signings

Looks like Fulham's investments in the transfer market are beginning to pay dividends too. It doesn't matter what excuses the management or RTGs put up, the fact is that the club have failed to strengthen adequately both last summer and in the latest transfer window. Their failure is looking increas...

Re: Reality check

On the wage bill - I remember an article in the Times towards the start of this season where our total annual wage bill was app. £10m. To put that in context, Wigan's was £20m, and they had the 19th highest wage bill in the Premier League. Admittedly our figure probably included some residual figur...

Re: Coppell's Big Gamble

Explain this then. Why has Coppell gone on record several times STATING he DOES have plenty of funds to spend but is happy with what he's got? He was also THANKFUL for the end of the transfer window, as he said on the official site on Thursday! Madejski can't force the manager to make signings! Oh,...

I'm not singling you out, RL, it's just that you'r typical of those that say that we could and should have bought players/ It's just that yours was the last post I read that said that. Re: Coppell's latest backtrack

So are we blaming the manager here, or pointing a finger at a chairman who's raking it in and quite possibly not offering enough money to Coppell to get the players he actually wants? I don't want to blame anyone, but I certainly wont hold Coppell responsible . He can only work with the tools he's ...

Re: Reality check

Can someone explain. Why, despite knowing Sidwell was going to leave a year and a half have we not signed a single player of similar skills and ability? Are midfield is utterly spineless and Marek may give it quality, but not bite. Sidwell would have tracked Nolan, Harper just watched him score. Ca...
