Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Forbury Lion Mike Ashley owns Coventry's stadium

Could he be here just to buy the Madejski Stadium?

I doubt it. His representatives were shown around Bearwood as well by all accounts.

Given Ashley's history of making deals, if he seriously wants to buy Reading FC he very likely will do.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

There’s a massive irony in the reaction from fans of other clubs to the news that Mike Ashley is interested in taking over RFC. For years Reading and its fans have been derided as being ‘tinpot’ or ‘plastic’ with a soulless flat pack stadium. But now we are being warned by all comers on social media...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I've read some utter tosh about this situation on X etc over the last day or so.

A club in our position should be biting Mike Ashley's hands off as an owner, that's blatantly obvious to anyone with a minimum of common sense.

The issue is whether the current owner will sell to him.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (a)

Musing a bit so bear with, but struck me last night how what goes round often comes back round in football. By that I mean there is a good chance we're going back to the old fourth division, from whence we came. First started supporting RFC in the early 70s in the old fourth division days at Elm Par...

Re: “ Sell before we Dai “ supporters action group v2.2 sponsored by Dunlop Tennis Balls

Have the local MP's got involved? If not, it might be a good idea to get them to do so, likewise the town and county councils. External representations - all the way up to the Chinese Government - to apply pressure on the owner to sell up will work more effectively than tennis balls on the pitch IM...

Re: another, another, yes another - you heard me right, another embargo 2023 for late PAYE payments

Please excuse my ignorance, but is the points deduction for going into administration 12 Points? What "other things" happen in administration? We can't be forced to sell players before January, right? My thoughts are, IF we went into administration and Dan was actually gone, new people an...

Re: another, thants right another embargo for late PAYE payments - a new embargo (1st 23/24 embargo)

With the EFL's existing powers, points deductions are the only effective tool available. It definitely needs a bigger political conversation about how we regulate the game. That's probably true although football fans being what they are if a middle-eastern oil nation took over RFC I would suspect a...

Re: Potential New Owners

If he had a meeting at the SCL last week due to interest, hardly surprising he would get taken round Bearwood too. Something of nothing until a deal is announced and I assume this would only be investment. A clever person on twitter appears to have worked out that the pic of ZZ at Bearwood is fake....

Re: New investment confimred then…

Surely it's clear on that BBC report that he's talking about Sunderland. It even says so in the tweet and he mentions Sartori who is the co owner of Sunderland. It couldn't be any clearer. Yes I almost pissed my pants laughing as this has nothing to do with Reading ... It couldn't be any clearer he...

He also tweeted this yesterday: 'There is nothing serious about my suggested interest in Reading FC.

Even so, I will shortly explain why Reading is such an important club to me, far more so than West Ham, Sunderland and Coventry

In a way though it would be quite good to have an owner who looks like a cross between ZZ Top and the Hairy Bikers.

Re: another, thants right another embargo for late PAYE payments - a new embargo

Surely Microsoft which has it’s HQ in Reading would be interested in a goodwill gesture of some sort. May still be in Reading, but it's hardly used. Flogged off half their campus ages ago and most staff, even Reading-based, prefer the Paddington office. Ah right, sorry, bit out of touch on that one.

Re: BTFG Cambridge

Even allowing for the well documented problems we have that was a brainless performance. Pumping long balls up to a small lad who should be playing in the under 18s up against two experienced lumps. Great idea. Our best attacking thread benched for what reason? He looked fine when he came on. Most s...

Dreadful stuff really. Was really hoping to watch this tonight and feel some hope for the future. Nope. How low have we come to make a load of scuffers like Cambridge look like Barcelona.
