Re: Nostalgia again - This time pix from 1975/76

Fantastic, Ark.... the photo that encapsulates my fomer incarnation of Gordon Cumming's right hook. http://picasaweb.google.com/baz.greenaway/ReadingFCPromotionFromDivisionFour197576?feat=directlink#5300524515795638818 The Brentford one - not the Workington effort which, admitedly, was far superior.

Re: Reading FC villains

I agree with whoever said Robert Maxwell. We've had bad players, we've had managers, staff and players betray us and throw loyalty back in our face. However only 1 man has tried to destroy us altogether, and even though he was eventually never at the club he has to be the ultimate royals villain. S...

Re: Reading FC villains

Can't believe that we got this far into the thread without mentioning the biggest villain in RFC history.

Nobbers - I give you the accused. Frank Waller. It was criminal what he nearly got away with.

Tommy Youlden - all crinkly and stacked up on top

Bryan Carnaby for bettering Ralph Coates and Bobby Charlton in the "swept over" department.....

.... but Dennis Butler for his fantastic droopy regimental tache and sideburns that went down his neck....

Re: Jimmy Kebe is a good player, sign in

I have yet to see a natural winger that is consistent, part of the game at this level. I'll give you Dave Thomas, Gordon Hill and .... Steve Coppell - the three best wingers/crossers of the ball in the English game. Ever. Period. Which is probably why they played for teams at the top of Tier 1. I h...

I want to play this game.

Apparently, my mate's friend's budgie says that it is a straight swap shunt and Leroy for Aaron Lennon.

Yes, please.

Re: Odds to be top at end of season

Ollie and RR - blimey, that's arithmetic.... Ahem.

So what you're saying is that only fools bet with bookies and Betfair is a, errr, safer bet?

Now, remind me of the odds of Ollie, Ollie, Ollie planting one over the top of the Tilehurst End?

Re: Odds to be top at end of season

Now I am complete numpty at spread betting and only ever have occasional - and pretty successful - wagers on flat racing on "conventional" odds, so please will someone explain what is meant by the book being at 102% or whatever?

Thanking you

Maybe I'm just being more hopeful on one of my less cynical days, but I read in to that that the Brothers Hunt rather like being at the same club together.

I must go and lay down.

Delighted for him - even if he is a bl00dy Tory. In my view, many knighthoods are just cynical appreciation of oiky, wide boy benefactors and, while Sir Mad Man does have his ego, it doesn't need massaging like many I could mention. Sir John - how good does that sound? - does loads to support worthy...

A sad day, indeed. Roy Tranter - along with Jim Brookes and Roger Smee - saved RFC.

One of the real unsung heroes along with the likes of Frank Orton and Maurice Evans.

There's another star in the sky tonight.
