Re: Results required for us to stay up in the final day

I'd be pretty freaky for both 5th and 6th placed teams, Derby and Preston, to lose at home to Burton and Barnsley, so relegation is very unlikely. We'll have been saved by other teams being rubbish though. We could well stay up with just 43 points. You have to go back to 1985 for the last time when ...

Re: Rival Watch

Molineux was condemned on two sides in the 80s, and the stand down the other side was about 30 yards from the pitch. http://i68.tinypic.com/258rrk8.jpg I think Hartlepool had about 10 years with their ground looking like this, after their wooden main stand got condemned after the Bradford fire. It w...

Re: Rival Watch

Ah forgot about Northampton. That was pretty legendary. One side bordering the cricket pitch, rest of it a dilapidated mess. Yep and miles from the station. For those who never went, it needs to be mentioned that the ground only had 2 and a half sides. One end (the rear half fenced off) only reache...

Re: Rival Watch

Mid Sussex Royal Think quite a few old grounds had wooden terracing pre 1985 Bradford fire, Gigg Lane? Deepdale?

Old Trafford had it into the early 90s, in the corner between the Stretford End and the Main Stand.

Re: Anyone Nervous?

Surprising that Jonathan Low is still referring us being involved in a relegation battle. It would now take an awful lot of results to go against us for us to go down now. a defeat for us, and wins for Bolton and Barnsley on Saturday would make it very nervous final day again. Of those three, defea...

Re: The Non - League thread

Off to Scours Lane tonight to watch Bracknell get promoted. Get it sorted tonight so I can miss the final game on Sat and watch Reading through my fingers instead. Or go down to Lydney on Thursday. A draw will effectively be enough, unless Wantage can turn round a 35 goal GD deficit in two matches.

Re: VAR

Why would they have to know? They'd only have to spot the potential. They could also raise their flag. The ref just wouldn't automatically whistle. In short, they could truly give the attacking side the benefit of the doubt in decisions, without having to worry about be slated for getting it wrong....

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Napoli win 1-0 away at Juve with a 90th minute goal. Gap down to 1 point, title race back on! Of the 4 remaining games they both have Juve have to go away to Roma and away to Inter while Napoli's hardest fixture is a trip to 8th placed Sampdoria As mentioned previously, I've a keen interest in this...

Re: VAR

I think that’s already started during the pilot. My issue with it is that it’ll lead to more disallowed goals which will dilute the moment of celebration more (over time, not right now) and will end up with a chunk of play being as good as irrelevant. Also, if you let such decisions go you’ll end u...

Re: VAR

One thing I would like to see happen with VAR is referees not blow the whistle for offside unless it's a clear decision. If the player goes on to score, VAR could sort it out. Re: BFTG Wednesday (a)

Yes we got 2 wins but anyone who thinks those wins weren't largely down to luck is lying to themself. There wasn't that much luck in the two clean sheets in those games. The effort the team put into defending those leads was outstanding. I don't think we'd have seen the same levels of determination...

Re: Relegation Watch

So to go down we need all but one of the following to happen 1. Burton to win both their games 2. Barnsley to win 2 out of 3 games 3. Bolton not to lose again 4. Birmingham to finish the season better than us. If, of course, we beat the team that are 16 points clear of the playoffs and 13 points cl...

https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/southern-football-league-premier-division/league-table Gosport won their third game of the season yesterday. Re: BFTG Wednesday (a)

As for the "fight, energy and commitment" you are kidding yourself. Sunderland showed more fight than us in 1 match than we have since Clement took over and they are severely more oxf*rd than us. Our 2 wins under Clement were both distinctly against the run of play. One took a moment of e...

Royal_jimmy We badly need Forest to get something on Tuesday.

If Barnsley win then Burton are down

How?

A Barnsley win puts them on 41 points. Burton can still get 44.

Re: Safe standing progress

Whilst not being a direct reason for Hillsborough, it was indicative of how football supporters were regarded at the time, fenced in in unsafe areas, and treated as a problem. Pick up any fanzine in the aftermath of Hillsborough and they were all awash with stories of crumbling terraces, aggressive...

Re: BFTG Sunderland

Can’t see Joey or Edwards playing next season Swift/Bacuna/Kelly is prob our best combo but Bacuna’s stupidity has messed that up I’m not convinced Evans is any better than an ok fill in. He hasn’t really progressed and never seems to dominate a game Interesting to see Rinomhota was picked ahead of...
