Re: RIP Neale Cooper

I didn't realise he was only 27 when he joined us. It looks like he'd had really bad problem with injuries over the previous few years. I can't recall much about his playing career with us, beyond him (badly) missing a one-on-one on his Elm Park debut. He did, however, hand out comps to me and a few...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Apparently this could be Newcastle's away kit next season - would be happy with this template in blue/white. https://i.imgur.com/DQ6l3Oe.jpg If that is their hooped template then I think a lot of people would be very happy with that. I'm not sure it's genuine. There doesn't look to be anywhere on t...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Hendo Home kit would be a dream.
.

I'm not so keen on thick hoops. A bit too QPR-ish.

Given the choice, I'd go for Robin Friday era thin hoops. The club doesn't tend to seek out my advice though, for some reason.

.... and the re-shuffling commences - Andover Town have reportedly declared they will NOT be taking promotion from the Wessex Premier, citing retirements and departures from their playing squads. That's a shame - would have been a nice local derby for Winchester City. We only made it up to the SL S...

Re: Pre Season 2018/19

Added cost of running an open stadium during preseason? Not only for us, but for the team(s) we are playing against. Ah, that explains why no other teams play friendlies against teams at their stadiums when they go on tour. Or maybe it’s becuase they don’t want our mong fan base, who obsess and que...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Not really no (to feeling intimidated). We were sat in a bar before the game having a chat with the locals and it was all fine, they were interested in us but never anything more than that. We certainly didn't hide who were were at any point. The main ultras were at the other end of the ground, and...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Went to Sampdoria v Napoli on Sunday as previously documented in this thread. Sounds fantastic. Did you feel at all intimidated being (presumably) English? Did anyone notice you were and 'welcome' you, so to speak? Not really no (to feeling intimidated). We were sat in a bar before the game having ...

Re: The Non - League thread

I'm hoping it'll be a case of short term pain for long term gain. The north/south split was causing problems as it was, and did need sorting out. The step 4 divisions, due to the number of step 4 clubs they've absorbed, ought to be a bit easier to step up to than they are now. In the end, all clubs ...

Re: SV Hamburg- going down.

SV Hamburg, permanent resident of the Bundesliga, has been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time in its history. This is another step towards Fc St Pauli becoming Hamburgs dominant football club. As a result I will continue my quest to become Hobnobs dominant Hamburg poster. HAGO every...

Re: Where in the world??

It's been something of a hobby of mine for the past 15 years or so, and I often arrange holidays with the fixtures in mind when planning an itinerary. As a result I've seen football (excluding games in England and Wales) in Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France,...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Watching Hamburg v Borussia Moenchengladbach on BT Sport, and noticed the Hamburg manager is called Christian Titz. I couldn't help my inner Beavis saying "Titz...huh..huh..huh" It would be a fine name for a niche interest gentlemen's periodical too. With Hamburg on the brink of being rele...

Re: Don Goodman

In fairness, they were racking up the points and were on course to beat it at one stage. Maintaining that pace over the full 46 games is difficult though.

Also, being worried that they might have broken the record isn't the same as believing they would, or even that they were likely too.

Re: Safe standing progress

Had confirmation from my local MP that he supports safe standing! But does he go to many evening games after a 12 hour shift on his feet? Thought not. What does that have to do with anything? some people have the bizarre idea that allowing safe-standing/terracing means everyone will forced to stand...

West Brom must be cursing both getting rid of Pulis and employing that imbecile Pardew. Their own fault of course. They certainly won't be cursing getting rid of Pulis. They were playing awful football and losing. Appointing Pardew was the mistake. It was quite annoying at he time, when the fans wa...
