Re: The magic of the FA Cup

I think that was more of an emotional thing - voting was just a couple of weeks after his FA Cup semi-final howler and all the press coverage about how devastated he was... Have to admit I looked at some of the winners and runners up and just thought What??? Mo Barrow was 2nd one year for instance....

Having said that Federici did win POTS in 2014/2015 I think that was more of an emotional thing - voting was just a couple of weeks after his FA Cup semi-final howler and all the press coverage about how devastated he was... Re: The magic of the FA Cup

On the other hand, the year we got promoted he kept the most clean sheets in the league and won POTS (I think). Nope, he came second to Alex Pearce. Oh, ok - runner up. My bad  POTS and runner up etc doesn't always mean a lot I think - often it's acknowledging a new player has impressed in hi...

Re: Injury watch 2022/23

Winston Bogarde? One case nearly 20 years ago? Demands of the game have moved on even further since then. And were Moore to have that mindset, I very much doubt he would have played on in games when he had dislocated his shoulder and risk further dislocations by resuming playing too soon after that...

Re: Rival Watch

McCleary signed his just as he had been a massive part of Stam season 1. Of course soon as he did he got injured and his firm dropped iirc Gunter was just an example of him getting a big deal because everyone else was. Could have picked up a better player at half the price Not exactly - Boro came i...

Re: Garang Kuol

Promising I suppose, if not a bit of an unknown. It's another option in attacking areas nonetheless if this was to happen, I wonder if that means Azeez might go out on loan for half a season for some game time if we were to pull off something like this. Given how pInce tends to value experience ove...

hmmm. Not always in agreement with Ian, but Olde Biscuit's claim that the knee " is not a gesture in favour of racial equality, it is just a fashion that young men love to go along with and be part of, it’s not for unity, it’s for fun " should not go unchallenged. Still cannot see why it ...

Re: Magic Number

Lots of people missing the point, it seems. The magic number is the points swing required to be mathematically certain of the desired result, in this case, safety from relegation . It's a precise number determined by actual results, not guesswork based on probability. Exactly. Could have an entirel...

Fully agree but I think you may have inadvertently referred to the wrong player/keeper when you talk about the aggressive press?

I meant to say Joe Allen, brain misfire!

Yep think it was Russell Martin who did the aggressive press on Lumley

Re: MATCHWATCH : Swansea City (h)

The thing is, he made 3 / 4 really poor errors. And I can't say I really noticed a lot of particular quality he did . Though I was watching on my phone, so less than ideal conditions. Two terrible passes under no pressure to turn over possession in fairly quick succession first half. Like, the sort...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Swansea City (h)

The ref was decent enough. Felt he fell for a number of the Swansea dives but overall he was pretty good Don’t get the Loum was poor comments. Thought he was excellent bar a couple of misplaced passes out of touch. Looks much quicker and more energetic than when he first joined. The thing is, he ma...

Re: Ex Players

Bit of agreement with g_s’s comment. Signed up for commencement of our last Prem league season, promptly left following our relegation. Possibly not even his ‘fault’ (maybe, just having a good agent) but it came across as a bit “mercenary” to some of us. Sold him for nearly as much as we bought him...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

See that the getreading site is ramping up for a month of no Reading news by giving two startling snippets of news. 1. That apparently it’ll be down to AC and his agent whether his deal is extended in January and 2. That Reading are going to trial giving opponent team news before a game - as if it’...

Re: The place to keep track RFC players at the World Cup

Absolutely no idea. There may be something in the loan contract which stipulates. Maybe something similar to the wage %, for example if we're paying 90% of Loum's wages we get 90% of the WC money. But yeah, no idea. It's (inevitably) more complicated then that. The amount of compensation per player...

Re: Rival Watch

Any time an organisation fails to pay wages on time it's a sign that there is something seriously wrong. Even when they come back with some platitudes about an administrative error, you just know that there is more going on. Exhibit A, April 2019 - Reading fail to pay salaries, and blame it on a Ho...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Indeed - I'm sure that we've also said after defeats we've been crap as well - rather than how good the opposition were. WBA being the prime example of that. There are only a small handful of clubs in the Championship that regularly play notably well imo. Everyone else has the odd great game and is...

Re: Kids going to Reading games in other teams colours.

Agree with those that have no issue-the good news is that the kid has attended a Reading match. We have a relative who has an Arsenal fanatic father so the boy has always had everything Arsenal and has been to many of their matches. He is now 15 and his mates watch Reading and he has become a conve...

Re: BTFG - Bristol City

Sat in the car after the game listening to BBCRB and some old fella made me laugh as he had a very high opinion of P Ince but it was good to hear that he was still enjoying listening to the games. Ady was saying that as fans we shouldn’t be worrying about relegation this season and we should be loo...

Re: BTFG - Bristol City

Had a bit of a funny conversation with my Dad before the first goal: *Win a corner* Dad: Our corners have been pretty poor so far Me: Yeah but those were on the right, Ince normally has better delivery *Goal is scored* Me: Yeah, like that Me, literally, to guy beside me! POT 1st Half, Mbengue. POT ...
