Re: Rumour - Kyle Edwards

We can only sign players for a year as I understand it, leaves us in a poor position to sign someone like him

We are looking at journeymen at the end of their careers or released youngsters like Onen last season...

Hopefully we can get lucky somewhere but doesn't look good

Re: George Puscas To Be Loaned Out

Looks like this may have been the other way round with the club saying no to the loan move. Makes sense now particularly as we didn't let him play for Romania in the olympics.

Re: Relegation

Snowflake Royal When was Lincoln's season?

I believe 1975/76, when Graham Taylor was manager.

We were promoted too that season in third from the same league (4th tier) - in the days of Mr Friday

Re: George Puscas To Be Loaned Out

If this is true (and it probably isn't as it's Low, who has no contacts at the club) then its madness. Joao is injury prone and already injured in pre-season so if Puscas goes we start the season with no fit strikers with any first team experience You are right, of course, but maybe Azzez will come...

Re: Injury watch 2021/22

Usual injury crisis starting to take shape with 2 weeks to go: Meite - pretty much season written off, anything less a bonus Joao - his standard soft tissue injury. Hasn't started a pre season game yet, must be a doubt for Stoke Araruna - 5 weeks until he's with the first team squad McIntyre & H...

Re: Should Reading drop the Royals nickname ?

Snowflake Royal I think there's about as much chance of us dropping the Royals and going back to the Biscuitmen as there is of DD becoming manager.

I don't see why we couldn't resurrect it - are hats still made in Luton? Are there loads of Pilgrims in Plymouth? Toffees made in Everton??

Re: Stadium renaming.

NathStPaul Seen hardly any objection to this on social media, think most can see it is sensible. As has been mentioned, it will always be known as the Madejski Stadium to us.

Re: Rumour - Yannick Bolasie & Junior Hoilett

Royality creeps In
morganb Didn't realise that Hoilett plays as a winger for the Canada national team - have Reading had many Canadian players in the past?

Pretty sure Bob Lenarduzzi (Spelling?) was Canadian

Yep - also think Steve Hetzke may have had family links to Canada

Best kit in years. May even get the goalie kit too (which would be a first for me) as a tribute to Deathie.

Re: Olise being sold for £8m?

Can't blame the club too much for this one, unlike Richards, and its a good move for him as he will get game time there.

Last year of deal so if it is £8m its probably par.

And anyway - if there is a release clause why has it taken this long for someone to come in?

Re: Contract situation at end of 2020/21 season.

A release clause doesn't guarantee a fee, it just puts an upper limit on what we could possibly get for him. No one knows what kind of negotiations were going on but you'd be surprised if Olise's agent really had the leverage to insist on the clause. More likely they either asked for guaranteed pay...

Re: Gary Heale.

I believe he left midway through the 1981/2 season, and came back in the summer for pre-season but was sold to Sparta Rotterdam? I don't think Maurice Evans (manager) wanted him back. Was a decent player, as said above quite physical but decent on the ground too and certainly better than your averag...

Re: Should Reading drop the Royals nickname ?

With the controversy in the news regarding the royal family and the general unpopularity of the royals among the population it would be beneficial to adopt a new nickname or return to a former one. I would rather not want my team to be associated with pedophiles and grifters, I say this as someone ...

Re: Should Reading drop the Royals nickname ?

Ah. A bit earlier than I had thought. It was summer of 1976, just after we got promoted from Div 4 and not long after H&P shut down. There was a competition and fans sent in suggestions. Manager Charlie Hurley was the judge (!) and picked the Royals. The club then sold silk scarves at the start...
