Re: GOMES OUT!

There is a huge grey area between 'Wanting to go down' and 'Going down being disastrous' and it would be astonishing to find zero fans with an opinion in that grey area. Plenty of teams have gone down and come back up, including the team we seem to be mimicking at the moment - Blackburn. Its clear w...

Re: Gomes, Should he stay or should he go? Mk2

Nice bit of fence-sitting tbf Where do you want us (as a club) to be? Hey I picked a side: I think he should stay. My point being that we are who we are right now, and the replacement is unlikely to be anyone particularly better. Therefore it's a choice between giving any of these managers time to ...

Re: Gomes, should he stay or should he go - poll

I mean it would be nice to go on a run of results again some time in my lifetime, but Gomes is just the sort of stabilising influence the club needs, and that outweighs everything else at the moment.

Re: Crowd for Charlton

LOLWUT? I just don't get this. Before the game, didn't give us much of a chance, as the game went on I believed more and more that we could win. Two different people, two different emotions. Who would thunk it? I get not being confident about winning, or thinking we were never going to take the lea...

Re: Crowd for Charlton

The wins at Saints and West Ham under McDermott, many of the backs-to-the-wall games we then nicked 1-0, THEY brought joy (IMO, to me). They felt special, that whole season did, because we out-did ourselves, we found something more. IIRC (and I do) there was a belief that we were lucky against Sout...

Re: Crowd for Charlton

I used to watch Newport County (for decades) and we lost a lot of games, eventually went out of the league and out of business. But, because our expectations were low and winning was rare (except for two glory seasons when we got to the quarter-final of the European Cup winners cup, drew 2-2 away a...

Re: Crowd for Charlton

The continuing low home crowds is a concern...I blame it on Stam. I blame it on Anton, although Stam made it worse. When McDermott was sacked. we transitioned from a club that had an excellent rapport with the fans, and a side that tried to win on match days; to a club that became apathetic about i...

Re: BFTG - HULL CITY (AWAY)

I think we need a power post ranking all our keepers from best to worst. I think the season we had 9 keepers would go down as the worst. Can we name them!? McCarthy and Shaka joint top for me What was the problem we all had with McCarthy again? His distribution? I didnt have a problem with McCarthy...

Re: BFTG - HULL CITY (AWAY)

: What were Federici and McCarthy? Standard probably.. Federici was a standard keeper. He also had an issue with the near post by the way. McCarthy was a combination of a great keeper and an occassional dodgy keeper. An excellant shot stopper but at times a bit of a flapper. He could have been grea...

Re: Where will we finish?

I havent seen us play in the flesh for coming on two years and I cant recognise 16/18ths of the players (I reckon I could give Gunter a go) but I think we're fcking shit. Bottom for me.

Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

I don't think that it's unreasonable for someone to criticise Shorey's conduct/performances in 07/08 - I seem to remember Brian McDermott referring to it in an interview when Shorey returned in 2012. I've no issue with a player wanting to move on - plenty of Reading players have been in that positi...

Re: League Cup 1st Round

For the first round, i would like somebody local two leagues below us to be played in front of a crowd of the 1500 people who remembered the fixture was on. For the second round, somebody we will play twice this season anyway, and have played 20 times in the last 10 years. I dont think we'll get to ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I think our defence requires the least work. We need to bring back Miazga (unlikely) or bring in AN other as first choice partner for Moore. But we have depth in the full back positions, while I think 2 of Holmes, McIntyre and Osho can provide cover (send one of them on loan). In midfield I think w...

Re: The League of 4

Yes. Still need 2 wins and tough games to come. Sure the players won’t be getting complacent In saying that Hull and Brentford are two big opportunities to seal safety Up to this point (where Rotherham have two home games and we have two away games) I wanted to be 4 or more points clear as we've de...

Re: The League of 4

I didnt like the look of those two home games for Rotherham, where we have two away games, but Derby did an almighty number on Rotherham yesterday and, in fairness, we've dome our part and got the points that we needed to do. Be mighty surprised if it isnt Championship football next year now.

Re: BFTG - PNE

I believe the whole thing about the team spirit is entirely down to the manager. He's come in from Day 1 with an infectious positivity, he's kind of put his arm around the squad and given them a fair crack, sussed out pretty quickly what needs changing, implemented changes and by and large they are...

Re: The League of 4

I know it's off topic - but it's a bit depressing watching the Sheffield derby to see Norwood and Hector considered the two best players on the pitch. Not to mention Billy Sharp . . . Hector is woefully inconsistent, just a slightly better Ilori, good riddance. Sharp wasn't good enough for us and N...

Re: The League of 4

We are reading posts in various topics every day of the battle between Reading and Rotherham because where we are at this season is about the same. I have just checked on two seasons ago when both in this division and we finished 62 (yes 62) points ahead of them and yet here we are going head-to-he...
