Re: SPECULATION - Simon Cox

Cox had 6 months left to run on his contract. While Coppell wanted him to stay, the lure of first team football was too great for Cox to turn down. Who knows what will happen, we've seen clubs go back in for players after they've been sold (eg Billy Sharp back to Sheff Utd).

Re: Hard to see any progress for the forseeable future

..... I hope you are right about a change of mind come January but I do fear that we have become a selling club just as we were in 1995. We have always been a selling club and the odds are we always will be - that's the reality of football finance. Even Spurs are a selling club. There are only 4 cl...

Re: Hard to see any progress for the forseeable future

It's always interesting / revealing to read the comments of other teams' supporters and, from what I've seen, Swansea, Doncaster, Wolves, Burnley (twice), Bristol City and Sheff Wed all think we are the best team in the division. Forest, Charlton and QPR for starters have good ground to think other...

Re: 2008/09 SEASON BETTING THREAD pg60onwards

Ante post, things are looking ok (touchwood). Simon Cox hits another hat-trick to keep himself ticking over in the League 1 top scorer charts. I also backed Burnley on the handicap for the Championship at +22 points IIRC (slip is back in Reading) and I expect they'll be up there with the rest in the...

Re: Pearce Joins Saints on Loan

Thought Pearce was alright during his spell in the side earlier this season, no doubt he will be a fine player for the future but at times I wasn't so sure whether he was ready. Good loan move, gives him more opportunites to familarise himself with this league. Sooner we have Doobs back the better, ...

Re: Back from the game...

I feel embarrased we didn't win. We created so many good opportunities yet couldn't finish for the life. As the game went on, Burnley were getting more into the game and made the subs at the right time.

Re: Back from the QPR game

First set of points we've dropped at home this season, it's now approaching the end of October. We can't be too dissapointed given that statistic. We were nowhere near at our best, our approach play in the final 3rd wasn't up to the standard we expected, and I thought QPR defended excellently. Coupl...

Re: Bristol city away (Non hooligan thread)

All I hope for is a decent away following (i.e no day trippers) so that all the "proper" songs (and some new ones) can be given an airing rather than alternating between "Blarmy" and "Stand Up for Steve Coppell" as we do at home. Brizzle is this year's Fulham. A proper...

Re: Return of Leroy Lita?

It's nice to see Lita scoring goals and with a smile on his face, too many times for the past 18 months has he not done that. Let him get to the end of his loan, we'll see what yesterday's performance does for his confidence and a decision will be made come January where his future lies.

Re: Bristol City have 2 bids for Lita rejected

The City boss told Bristol City World: "We made an enquiry about him and, with dignity, Steve Coppell said he didn't want Leroy coming back to Bristol. "Then when we asked about Leroy's availability again, we were told he was in the immediate first team plans. "We knew we weren't in ...

RUMOUR: Bristol City made bids for Lita

BBC teletext; Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has had two bids to bring Reading striker Leory Lita back to Ashton Gate rejected. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~1421517,00.html I think that indicates SC feels Bristol would create more problems for Leroy than advantages.

Re: Home game reduced again

It would appear that Barnsley fans get the better end of the deal with ourselves having differen't concessionary prices (ie Under 12, 13-16, 17-21, 65 and over) compared to Barnsley's (Under 11, Under 18, Senior Citizen). Oh well, good to see clubs working together.

Re: The rest of the qualifiers

Nasty clash of heads in the Chile Argentina match, play held up for 7 minutes. Robinho stretchered off in the Brazil game, doubt for next Monday's tie at Newcastle.
