Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

I agree but I still think its an odd thing for a manager to say to the press a few days after it was reported that Harps wants to stay with us. I think the only way Harper can read it is that he is superfluous and the club wants him to go. I will be surprised if he is here after 1st September unles...

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

Perhaps we offered £50 up front and 1.8M if we get promoted this season!

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

And the whole sorry saga would not have happened had BR not gobbed off in that press conference about Tommy Smith wanting to come here. In hindsight it was unprofessional. My money is that it is a lesson well and truly learnt. We now have to go cap in hand to Russo and eat shitloads of humble pie. ...

Re: Sheffield United prediction thread

My RTG glasses are well and truly off.

I have not been more negative before a match for many years. I really do not see us competing with Sheffield - who I see as one of the main promotion candidates so a 2-0 to them looks likely.

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

To be fair to Watford if a large slice of the £1.8M we are offering is subject to us getting promoted you can completely understand them rejecting the bid. £1.8M cash now is very different from maybe getting 1.8M in the end in the unlikely event Reading get promoted this season. I know that we have ...

Re: Baseless speculation: No-one

Have to say I was a bit horrified when BR said that we had plenty of cover at CB as we can call on Cisse and Gunnarson. We just have two fit CB's at present - who knows how long before Ivar is fit. Surely we should have more specialist cover in what is always regarded as the most important specialis...

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

In the past I have always supported our transfer policy and how Hammond has applied it but the pursuit of Smith has turned into a farce. BR has made it clear from day one that he is desperate to get Smith, which does not put us in the greatest negotiation position in the first place - then the negot...

Re: Pspeculation... Matejovsky next

Matejovsky is injured and has a part to play. The question is is he injured or is he "injured" (which is code for he is under offer to leave the club so we cannot risk playing him)? We will not know for sure until 1st Septmeber. He may well end up being sold, but I don't think it's had a ...

Re: Give Mooney A Chance!

I must admit i'm baffled as to why Mooney hasn't been given a chance by Rodgers yet. We're desperately lacking a goal scorer and the guy has proven he can score at this level. I think he will play the league cup game against Barnsley next week and we will see how he does then against another Champi...

Re: Could we be involved in a relegation battle?

having watched that last night I feel pretty much how I felt as I left Bolton at the beginning of 2006/2007 a team berefet of ideas in the final 3rd if things do not improve quickly we are in for a long season and a relegation battle I agree. The problem with this division is that there is not much...

Re: Open letter to Sir John

I'm almost bored of writing the same thing, but I'll repeat it again. Name me any club, anywhere you like, that has dropped a division and NOT sold it's HIGHEST paid players by the 2nd season after relegation. Double Dare. You won't find one. Why? Because they are expensive. Week in, week out, 30k ...

Re: Open letter to Sir John

Heartfelt emotions well put Andrew. I have noticed your strong RTG stance in the past so it has taken something for you to "come out". I felt like this 17 months ago when the club decided not to spend any significant money to keep us in the Premiership but now have come to terms with the ...

Ferdinand gave the ball away cheaply against Holland. Shit happens. Move on, he'll improve. sonko was fcucking awful in his first games with us aswell as with most sport , confidence is needed and we desperatly need a few wins so defence can relax a bit and start gelling i'm prepared to give mills ...

Re: Back from the game - Swansea (A)

It's quite scary really - ever since January, watching Reading, you just can't see where the next goal is going to come from. That's pretty much the opposite of before Xmas, where you felt even if we went one goal down, we'd score one or two sooner or later. And with no proven strikers on the pitch...

Re: Back from the game - Swansea (A)

Well that really was a poor attacking performance - barely a shot on goal and Swansea Jack's summary is very fair. I hope I am wrong but without some re-investment we are going to struggle this season - as I think are Swansea.

At least Federici is beginning to silence the doubters.

Re: Swansea V Reading Official Match Thread

I really do not understand how Church can start instead of Long. Listened to BBCRB and we sounded as though we were very lucky. The worrying thing is that Swansea and Forest are even worse than us. Worried about Saturday now. The only bright note is that Federici had a great game - MOTM

Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

Strangely I was thinking it was hard to see how to fit Harper in this season. He is not a good enough tackler to be a defensive midfielder and not creative or goal scoring enough to be in the attacking role. I would have thought Cisse plus one of Gunnar, Tabb or Karacan in the defensive role would ...
