Re: Football League Restructure

Seems like an idea worth discussing, but if they add a division, why not go regional? Division 4 north and south anyone? more derbies, lower costs for fans and clubs would offset the loss of revenue from fewer games. Quite. It seems perverse to restructure the league to bring more teams into the &q...

Re: Youtube - Football related spare thread

Idiot fans. So there will be some West Ham fans who will never watch their team play at their new ground because they couldn't resist throwing bottles at the United coach. And now this tw@t, who hopefully will get a long or life ban having decided to celebrate Hull's win by confronting Derby skipper...

Re: 2016 Play-offs Thread

Winston Smith what about the entire league being a play off at the end of the season?

24th plays 23rd, winner goes to 22nd to play, winner goes to 21st to play etc.

Posted this on the European leagues thread, but in Belgium, 16-team top division, places 7th to 14th enter a Europa league playoff.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Russia's answer to Leicester City need results to go their way this weekend to win the Premier League. FC Rostov came 14th (and third bottom) last season, they are two points behind CSKA Moscow at the top with a game to play, both teams away at mid-table sides. They have a weird system in Belgium. L...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Winston Smith Jack Aitchison scores for Celtic today at 16 years and 71 days old. Even for the Mickey Mouse league that is a great effort.

When I think back to what I was doing at that age......

Scored with his first touch too.

No Fixed Abode

Most.....for a defender.

So, he's old and played a lot then?

I really wish people would stop talking about Rashford. Making me nervous Hodgson is going to 'do a Sven' (Walcott).

He just doesn't seem as bothered any more. Or 'he's done a Hazard', as it has become known.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Zola, Oscar Garcia, Jokanovic, Sanchez Flores, Mazzarri.

As someone on the radio said earlier, the owners know they like pasta, they just aren't sure which type.

I think that works.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Like dominoes.

Quique Sanchez Flores to leave Watford, despite a comfortable mid-table finish and an FA Cup semi-final.
Bizarre. What must his target have been at the start of the season?

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

No sarcasm required. Martinez got relegated with Wigan and took Everton to mid-table. It's difficult to see he has a Premier League option next.

AthleticoSpizz Roll the "Martinez to Reading" rumours

If he's prepared to drop to the Championship (he might not have a choice) surely he would be of interest to Villa? Or Newcastle, assuming Benitez leaves.

Re: England - the future....

Milner did his cause no harm last night with a cracking performance. Perhaps I'll change my mind and say we should make room for him amongst the inexperienced midfielders. He's one of Roy's faves. I think he'll go at the expense of Drinkwater. Some stat doing the rounds before this weekend that Mil...

Re: England - the future....

"the best form of defence is to attack"

I agree, Vic, but picking a relatively immobile Andy Carroll, who can't break at pace, and has pretty average feet, doesn't lend itself to that.

Re: West Ha Ha Ham

Definition of an idiot. Your team is moving into a massive, new stadium, potentially heralding the dawn of a new era for the club, after a very strong season. And you throw a bottle at a coach carrying the away team and get a life ban. How do these mouth-breathers even dress themselves, nevermind an...

Re: World Cup 2018

Reading about American Samoa, who famously lost 31-0 to Australia in the recent past - they have risen to the heady heights of 164th in the world rankings, and even won 2 qualifying games this time around, missing out on progression to the next round on goal difference. Apparently the last few year...
