Re: MATCHWATCH : Bracknell Town (a) sponsored by local derby fun

Old Man Andrews Still trying to figure out who I am supporting in this game. Reading are my team but I have a lot of connection to Bracknell Town. It is going to be a weird one.

Are you appreciating the dilemma Reading4Eva now has every game/season OMA?

Re: RUMOUR - Steve Bruce

My home town is Reading and where I live is Bournemouth. Hence the reason I support both clubs. Kids support Bournemouth. Remember when I moved down here Reading were Premier League and Bournemouth were on 17 points. Strangely then no one said a hoot or made comments of little old Bournemouth and c...

Re: On this day

I just put that team on my left hand computer screen at work and the current team on my right hand moniter and just started uncontrollably weeping. Really????? Despite this being only 2 years after the 106 team, there is plenty of shlt in there. Rosenior, Cisse, Noel Hunt, Bikey, Karacan. No better...

Re: On this day

And on this day 33 years ago Lincoln 0 Reading 1 . and the last of our 13 wins at the start of the season. 33 years ago?! Shlt. I was there. We had a side of their main terrace (as it was in those days, before becoming their main stand). Don't remember much other than Tricky Trev scoring on or abou...

Re: Reading v Millwall, I'm looking forward to seeing

Cape Town Royal Being chased across Propsect park after we scored a late goal to change the result.. I think it was about 1985?

I vaguely remember we scored late and then said lets go........... but they seemed to appear as we headed up Tilehurst Road..

Just being chased would've sufficed.

Re: Ex Players

Terry Hurlock now works for the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) and in 2007 the Times declared him as the 23rd hardest man in football  THE hardest man in football and probably now the RMT's 'chief whip'. My recollection of him getting sent off at home to Rotherham...

Re: Madejski Out

ISTR when Sidwell left, Coppell decided no replacement was needed.

IMO THAT was the decision that cost us - and effectively still is. Nothing to do with Madejski.

Call it short sighted, naive, frugal or whatever, but that was the defining error.

Re: Thatcham Town FA Vase Final

It is a magnificent achievement for a club such as Thatcham. What a day for them to remember. Good to see that 'grass roots' football is thriving in Berkshire. Especially after the durge we have been dished up over the past couple of years. Maidenhead United also easily consolidating their position ...

Taking the job with us could've been a bit like the rebound from an ex.

Not what you want or fancy, but better to get back out there than sit at home waiting/w@nking for something better to come along?

..... an attacking, exciting, all out assault on the opposition's goal with plenty of creativity, tenacity and shots with no meaningless backwards and sideways passes. Less percentage possession than the opposition. Not falling behind Gunter having a blinder 2 up top And us winning at home ...... Pa...

Re: Gate figure conspiracy-gate?

Surely the way resolve this would be to count the numbers in seats at next home game? With the likely number attending it shouldn't take too long and would be a darn sight more interesting than watching what was going on on the pitch.

Re: Low away attendances

For me it was away to Wigan on 31 October 1989. Branfoot had just been sacked and Lew Chatterley was in temporary charge. Me and my mate drove up. Had a few beers in a Rovers Return type pub and headed off to the ground to find the Away End turnstiles boarded up. Incongruously there was a copper on ...

Re: Please get our transfer business completed in swift fashion!!!

Sutekh Won't matter for Reading. Perhaps a couple of loan deals in and couple loaned out. Unless Moore gets sold there won't be any major deals happening inwards.

Absolutely this

So move on, don't get excited and close the thread.

Re: Filling in the air vents with solid panels

I thought the air vents were specifically designed and their whole purpose was to allow air flow onto the playing area to help sustain the grass/quality of the playing surface.

Just surprised its taken them 20 years to realise it hasn't and doesn't!

M-U-R-T-Y

Can't see there is an existing recent/relevant post to this - Mods feel free to move/integrate - but I'm sure we'll all wish Murts the best and congrats on being announced as at least "interim" manager of Rangers until the end of the usual 'dead rubber' of a season up there. Significant ac...

Ok prolly should be under AE but anyways just seen Doyler has announced his retirement from the game due to recurring concussion at the 'no' age of 34.

What the hell we could do with his like in his day right now!
