Re: Brighton (a) predictions and team

I actually think this match we are more likely to get something out of than we were on Tuesday night, Brighton's style and personnel plays a bit more into our hands. Having said that, I was surprised at just how well we coped with the high intensity press that Huddersfield employ, even if it did yie...

Re: BROFLighton

Predicted this would be their opinion of him. Tbf to them the tackle was a shocker, premeditated, designed to maim. I was indeed surprised only a yellow was shown, but what their lot fail to recall is the crafty dig of the elbow into Kermogant's face from Rosenior 30 seconds or so beforehand. The cl...

Re: Roy Beerens - Unsung?

LWJ I think the thing with Beerens is he bottles a lot of challenges/headers and goes missing for large periods of the game.

Are we still talking about Roy Beerens or are you now talking about Jimmy Kebe?

Re: Back from the game - Ipswich

Gunter defo at fault for the first .. what's happened to Watson ? .. would rather see him in the team tbh .. Looked like Gunter was more or less the last man for me on their first so if he'd lunged in he could have won the ball but equally he could have been beaten and left Lawrence with a simpler ...

Re: Back from the game - Ipswich

Frustrating season for me as this was my first awayday, and a disappointing performance all told. OP nails it with his assertions, although Williams played on the right as he was clearly right wing back, with Blackett and Gunter playing centrally with Moore. Desperately disappointed with Gunter for ...

What's best route via train? Personally doing Reading - Paddington - Kings Cross - Cambridge - Ipswich (but I'm breaking the journey at Stowmarket). If you choose this route, make sure you split the journey as on a straight through Reading - Ipswich ticket the route isn't valid. Works out at £57.80...

Re: Boo-boys down through the years

When I started watching Reading in 2000/1 season I had great seats in front row - pretty much in the middle of the Upper West ... but I gave those up because of two old farts sitting behind me who could not stop having a go at first John Salako and then Shaun Goater ... they literally spent the who...

Re: U23's & The Checkatrade Trophy - Wembley

If I were a supporter of a L1 or L2 club I think I'd be pretty pissed off with the renewed status of the competition, but the fact that we've accepted an invitation to play in the competition shouldn't mean we also boycott. Whatever other clubs do is up to them, as far as RFC is concerned it is a gr...

Barcelona flying out to Qatar for a midweek friendly against Christian Gross managed Saudi Champions Al-Ahli, before flying home to play in their derby match against Espanyol at the weekend. Their full squad are flying out there. Apparently it is contracted that the first team must play in the matc...

Re: Best/Worst Pundit

Gary Birtles spouts some utter sh*te, and Gerry Armstrong is far from brilliant where La Liga is concerned. Worst by a mile is Paul "argh, me toof's fawlen aat" Merson though. Seriously bad and only really famous for introducing the term "Desmond" to proceedings. Best - I admit t...

One thing I'm not sure on, their £25.9m loss is claimed to be within FFP regulations, which from this season permit up to £39m over a rolling three year period, and up to £5m per season without ownership capital injection. Their previous three years, including this one, read as follows:- To July 201...

Re: Record Watch 2016-17

Sorry old bean, but that's some barking mad arithmetic you're showing there, unless I've somehow missed your point? Newcastle, currently on 40 points after 18 matches. That leaves 28 matches to play, with 84 points to play for. 84 + 40 = 124. So, in the Champ, the number of points that need to be d...

Re: BFTG-Bristol city.

If it isn't a dive, it certainly isn't a foul . We'd (rightly) be furious if one was given against us like that. The touch on Samuel is minimal at best..... If it isn't a dive, it has to be a penalty. Tripping an opponent is a foul, and there's no need for there to be any intent. The only other pos...

Re: BFTG-Bristol city.

McShane was MOTM. Made some really crucial tackles. It was blood and guts stuff for most of the defence. I'm still not sure on Blackett. Thoroughly enjoyed their no 2 having an Ian Harte gif moment on the corner of our box in the first half. Sat at the other end, but the penatly looked a bit iffy f...

I'm desperately trying to find it, but about five years ago I posted a post/tirade at a fan who accused Brian McDermott's title winning team of playing "boring, soulless football" - it was about the time everyone started getting moist about Barcelona/La Liga. We now play that style of foo...

Re: Matchwatch : yeovil (h) in the couldnt give a flying one cup

Thought I'd pop along to take a look at some of the stars of the future but was somewhat underwhelmed unfortunately. The Positives - Kelly was excellent and looks like he could really make a push for the first team sooner rather than later. - Watson impressed again. Very comfortable with the ball. ...
