I consider form to be the teams performance over the last 3 games

In this case, the form of anyone but our first 3 or four games is irrelevant

Hope my input is of use to your statistical analysis

ps football is unpredictable - if it wasn't we'd all be making a fortune out of the bookmakers who'd subsequently go bust!

We finished eighth with 76 points when I did it.

Got the first result right, but I expected points for Leicester, Watford and Leeds today. Walk in the park

QPR 94

Norwich 83
Cardiff 79
Reading 77
Leeds 77
---------------------------
Forest 74
Burnley 74

That included us losing to Leeds

The Prisoner Just did it. We don't make the play offs.

Final standings:
1 QPR 96 pts
2 Swansea 86 pts
3 Cardiff 85 pts
4 Norwich 84 pts
5 Leeds 77 pts
6 Leicester 76 pts
7 Reading 73 pts
8 Forest 73 pts
9 Burnley 72 pts
10 Hull 70 pts

Bottom 3 as is

That is based on Barnsley (A) W, Portsmouth (H) D, PNE (H) W, Forest (A) L, Scunthorpe (A) W, Leicester (H) D, Leeds (A) D, Sheff U (H) W, Coventry (A) D, Derby (H) W

Turn the draw at home vs Leicester into a win and who knows? We never seem to beat Pompey.

TBF we have the easiest run in of the play off hopefuls - only 3/10 games left for us are against rivals, whilst the others spend a lot of time playing each other. Forest have 6 games left against play off/auto contenders out of their 9 for example. What do I know? Sweet FA.

Killed 10 minutes.

Just shows what I know! Anyway...worth looking at this again......I've gone as before except I changed the Coventry A from a draw to a win (how's that for optimism!) and it gave me...

1 QPR 93 pts
2 Norwich 82
3 Cardiff 81
4 Swansea 81
5 Reading 80
6 Leeds 75

Some points of interest:

Cardiff still have to play QPR (H) and have to go to two teams in the bottom 3 (Sheff U and PNE), and last day of the season they are at Burnley
Swansea have 3 games to come against play off chasing sides (Millwall and Burnley A, Hull H) and a relegation threatened side (Sheff U H, but last day of season by when they could be down)
Norwich have still got to go to Ipswich, but in all fairness their run in is (on paper) the easiest of them all - (Watford A, Forest H, Ipswich A, Derby H, Portsmouth A, Coventry H). Other than Ipswich wanting to get one over on them the other five games look pretty straight forward, but depends if they get the jitters
Leeds have us and QPR to play at the top, and Palace from the bottom

Haven't gone in detail 7th on, but Forest just about held it.

Conclusions - we need to start supporting Burnley & Sheff Utd who have both Cardiff and Swansea still to play.....hope that Ipswich take delight in their local rivalry....and that Forest haven't lost interest when they play Norwich....oh, and we need really to win our last six!

Simples......

RFC 80
Cardiff 80
Swansea 79
Burnley 74

I'm normally reasonably accurate... fingers crossed :P

Svlad Cjelli This is what I got - Forest, Leeds & Burnley have got some horrendous games to play in comparison with our run-in.

Bumped for novelty value. Common consensus was that Leeds would make it, but not Forest. Nobody perfect, but this was the nearest at the top and the bottom........

Readingfanman QPR 50 94
Norwich 12 76
---------------
Swansea 16 75
Cardiff 16 75
Reading 32 74
Burnley 12 73
---------------
Forest 15 72
Leeds 6 71
Millwall 15 69
Watford 14 68
Hull 2 68
Leicester-1 67
Ipswich 1 61
Doncaster-14 60
Bristol -7 59
Pompey -7 59
Barnsley -17 55
Cov -7 53
Derby -9 52
Palace -25 48
----------------
Scunny -33 45
Sheff -30 44
Preston -29 38

If it's as close as this I'll be very shocked. This includes an away defeat at Forest, and an away draw at Leeds!

This one also good, but Burnley instead of Forest this time! Again spot on with the naming the bottom 3 (not bothered about their order!)...

This one ain't bad... You have Forest right, it's just Leeds blew it and slipped below
and you picked the next four, not perfect order but you got 'em

You got the bottom 3 too
