I think it depends on promotion.

If we go up, I'm not sure players like Harte and Griffin would be able to cope every week. Cummings seems a decent replacement for Griffin but I'm not sure who could fill in at left back (do we still have Marcus Williams? he could be another Cummings yet!)

No Hoops First to go

Scott Davies

According to his twitter anyway

It's been a long time coming but I'm sure he'll get himself a reasonable club in the lower divisions.

I'd expect one of the keepers to go. Federici if we don't go up or one of Andersen and Hamer if we stay down.

I'd expect Gunarrsson and Ingimarsson will almost certainly be off as well (end of an era!) as well as a likely exit for Howard.

Those who are leaving will know it already - by the lack of contract talks etc, whcih usually start in Feb/March.

As far as I'm aware, other then Davies only Brynjar, Ivar, Julian Kelly and Dave Mooney are out of contract this summer and haven't yet signed new deals.

Shame. Always looked like he had potential, but obviously wasn't quite good enough. Good luck to him, I reckon he'll end up at Wycombe.

looked a good player every time i saw him, but siggurdsons meteoric rise rather spoiled his progression through the levels here.
hope he does well wherever he goes. hes a really decent prospect for a league 1 or new championship side imo

Sigurdsson's meteroic rise had nothing to do with Scott Davies progression through the levels at Reading. The only thing that stopped Davies from breaking in to our team was the fact that he simply wasn't good enough.

If he was good enough, he would have made it.

I'm with Brendy - Davies & Gylfi both played in the same position and once Gylfi had made that role his then Davies was surplus to requirements. Hence all the loan moves when he could have been getting coaching and gaining experience here.

well duh. im just saying that he was on the verge of the first team when he was suddenly overtaken and outclassed by a younger player in his position. i think that affected him.

keep brynn as player coach, we are a bit light on coaches anyway.regardless of division.
if we dont go up then offer ivar another pay as you play, cant go far wrong with him as a 5th choice CB imo, and
get shot of mooney, probably keep kelly unless we are about to buy an awesome FB

If we get promoted I could see the likes of Ingi and Gunnar getting another year as their experience could be very valuable in the PL.

If we do not get promoted I expect a large number of departures - obviously headed by those out of contract - but we will almost certainly see the likes of Fed, Long and Kebe leaving at the very least.

For the sake of stability I think it is very important that we do make it - or Brian will have a big rebuilding job on his hands.

A few seasons ago we used to send out our up and coming young players on lengthy loans to League 1 and 2. Some benefited but I am wondering of the lower standard of play and coaching has hampered the likes of Davies and meant that they have not continued to develop. He did really well in his two seasons at Aldershot - but the last two seasons he has disappointed, as none of his loans spells have gone really well.

Maybe this is why we have not loaned out the likes of Taylor this season and kept him training with the first team squad and why we have sent the promising Walcott and Mills to Telstar - in a more technical league.

Sad to see Davies go but I think this was inevitable and really hope that the Wycombe manager (who knows him well) signs him up and gives him a chance.
