Goodbye to Ivar

by Murts-is-Lej » 02 Jun 2011 08:28

@ReadingFC on Twitter Ingimarsson is departing after eight years of service

Hammond said, "Ivar Ingimarsson has been an outstanding servant for Reading Football Club and it is very important to recognise that. Ivar was player of the season for us in the Premier League, best league in the world, and an integral part of that successful team. With the emergence of Pearce and Morrison, the time's right for him to move on, on behalf of the club I wish him every success."

All the best to a great servant for the club, one of the legends...

Goodbye Ivar and thanks for everything.

But one question, when did Morrison "emerge"? I also heard today that Zurab is considering what to do after his international duty. That to me means that he is all but off too. So does this mention of Pearce and Morrison mean that they could well be our back 2, if Mills also gets snapped up?

An absolute rock at his prime and probably Coppells best signing with all things considered.

Time catches up with us all and so it seems the right time for Ivar to move on but his contribution to our success should never be underestimated.

Thanks Ivar for being the cornerstone of such great times.

A quick post to acknowledge my appreciation of Ivar's contribution to the best period in the history of Reading FC; his partnership with Sonko was sublime and the bedrock which allowed the team of 05/06 to sweep all before them.

Thanks for everything Ivar, and all the very best for the future.

Ivar was SSC's first signing. Always did his best and a great servant to the club.

Considering that Squeaky knows more about the goings on at Hogwood, I would expect Mills, Morrison and Pearce to form the basis of the central defensive partnership. Add Brynjar to those three and it looks as if we have some decent cover.

POTS in the club's most successful season. A shoo-in for the club's hall of fame. One of the club's most successful ever signings.

A true professional. Thanks Ivar, you're a royals legend.

Yeah, he'll be properly missed.
His header against Man City that season was epic (among many other awesome contributions).

Highlight?

That "leap like a salmon" header and winner against QPR in the 106 season. Majestic.

That's a great shout. Holloway said afterwards "I had my scouts look at them and they came back and said they found no weaknesses. That's never happened before." He also singled out Sonko and Ivar's prowess in the air.

Another of my favourite Ivar moments was when he set up Sidwell's equalier in our first Premiership game. God knows what he was doing up on the left-wing, but it was quality.

And what about that last minute equaliser in the cup? Against Swansea possibly? A great strike that showed off his technique.

Last time i bought a replica shirt was because i wanted the Premiership badges thinking this would be a 1 off, Ingimarsson was on the back of that shirt. Quality player in his day, everyone wrote him off before a ball was kicked in the Prem, player of the season. Like Shorey he was just good. You didn't notice him post match when you were going through who'd played well or poorly. He was just one of those 7/10 every week.

Talking about Ivar goals my favourite has to Ipswich home. They scored after about 92mins a certain Darren Bent only for kick off, all out attack, ball in, volley at the back stick 1-1.

Cheers Ivar, can come home to Torquay now.
