Reading vs Watford
It's always been sh*t
.

Can anyone remember many really decent games with a team we seem to play all the time? Can recall a 4-1 tonking at EP, but every time I have seen us play at Vicarage Road the standard of football has always been absolute pigswill; even a 2-2 draw from 2-0 down was garbage because McGhee played a daft 3-5-2 formation which our players found to be a totally alien concept. Can recall a 3-0 win there too where we played a reserve team and Watford still managed to out-inept us. And how many 0-0s have these teams played in recent years?

Terrible choice for a telly game. Terrible game for us to have during this recent patch of poor performances. Two dull family-orientated clubs in the home counties. Release the Doberman.

The worst result had to be the 2-0 loss at home in the Premiership. Coupled with this was the fact Watford had already been relegated and if we had only drew the game we would have been in Europe

I'd forgotten about that game

Right, that's put me in a foul mood. I want to stamp on some kittens now, or set fire to a baby.....

I remember a particularly depressing 4-2 defeat at Vicarage Rd when we made the terminally hopeless Devon White look like Ronaldo and the scoreline seriously flattered us.

I do remember a particularly thrilling 5-3 win at Elm Park against Watford. I'd say it was about 1982, in a Mickey Mouse Cup competition.

That one was truly awful - the rain-soaked trip around around the allotments on the way back was the main highlight.

Using this brilliant tool

I've just worked out I've sat through 6 hours worth of goalless Reading/Watford games in my lifetime. Cue Barry Davies:

"Floyd will go mad! And he's every right to go mad!"

Was there for the 4-2, think Caskey scored....

The 3-0 defeat on inflatables day was one of the most inept performances under Brian.

I remember in the year we got promoted we played them early on in the season in what must have been the most boring game of football ever. I was driving home from somewhere so listening on the radio, and as it was on TV and a 5:30 kick off 5Live promised to keep up to date with events there and go to the summariser whenever anything of note happened. It got to Half Time and they hadn't been across to Vicarage Road once. It eventually got to the point where we thought the game might have been called off...

That only goes back to 1994 and is therefore, by definition, pLoLastic.

Well, prior to 1994 RFC hadn't played Watford in the league since the 70s, and I was born at the @rse-end of 1979. Do you expect me to attend matches before I was born? This country

I might actually put a few quid on 0-0.

9/1 on skybet

And scored IIRC

I remember the 4-2. Did they have Graham Taylor back as manager then? Dire stuff.

3-0 win was when Pardew gave Peter Castle and Ahmed Rifat (??) places in the squad. Never saw them in the shirt again that I remember.

Didn't we once lose 1-0 on the last day of the season before the play-offs when someone like Ashley Young scored a deflected goal and the whoel thing was full of daytrippers and completely awful?

The best thing ever to happen at Watford vs Reading is a drunken AF1 being thrown out for refusing to deflate a giant Spongebob Squarepants.

It's probably a bit risky for a 2 year old to take a bus across town to attend the football, but your point stands.

IIRC we spent one of the nil nils abusing Kamara who was stuck out on the abandoned terrace in a howling gale.

Also, when we won 1-0 there to go top of the league in, I think, 2004.

And 3 years ago this week there was a decent 4-0 home win.

I won £80 by whacking a tenner on 0-0 when we played them away in the Prem. The only joy I've ever got out of the fixture.
