Father Christmas?

Maybe, just maybe he has looked at how RFC have developed and grown as a club under SJM's tenure.

Perhaps he has looked at a business which has moved from a ramshackle old ground to state of the art facilities
Perhaps he has noticed that the local population have responded, and average attendances have grown from a total of about 4500 to todays of about 17000, of which 12000 are season ticket holders.
Perhaps he has noticed the has steadily ascended the league ladder during this time, and the club has built a reputation for growing its own players in the academy, and also developing unknown players into multi million pound assets.

Surely all these things point to a business which is heading in the right direction, that with a bit more investment capital could actually provide a return on that investment.

I think It's great for the club and shows that Madjeski really does have our best interests at heart. He can't take us any further forward with his money and realises we can't progress by selling our best players every year.

However, do you really think that we will be able, although try, to keep doing things the Reading way. Everyone knows we have money now so we can no longer haggle clubs to a good price or include add ons left, right and centre. The players will also show their true colours too. I imagine Reading will still want to try and operate as a club who has a sensible wage structure. Surely that will be tested now the players know we have money available.

Finally, now we don't have to sell our top guys every year. Do you think McD might take the time to teach the players how to pass the ball to each others feet or am I being unrealistic here...

Just said no on the off chance I get to say "I told you so", and hence become King of Hobnob when we get relegated to the conference after being placed in administration.

In the absence of a "who can say" option I went yes, but then I didn't know about this slightly noncey looking bloke who seems to be pulling the strings

All fair points (am I allowed to say that on Hobnob?), and I hope you're right.

History will tell.

In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don't.

But not enough edification to appreciate light is what blinds people.

That would be an ecumenical matter.

Can you explain how those with faith know there is enough light for them to see when they all have their eyes closed?

Yours atheistically.
