Nolan or Noble to get sent off inside 15 minutes for doing St Jimmy then we see out a comfortable 2-0 win, with goals from Pearce and Jobi. Fat Sam's loaf of bread head turns bright red and he cries at how we didn't let them win

West Ham 4-1 Reading.

We're not really going up anyway. It's the footballing equivalent of Pam's dream in Dallas.

Having had a little look over on KUMB, they mostly think we are a nothing team from a nothing town but some posters REALLY do want revenge for the 6-0 drubbing they got in 06/07 season.

There are a few pricks talking about having a mash up afterwards and expecting the Reading to leg it (Melt seems to be the preferred term) but very few of them are predicting a WH victory on the pitch.

The socks thing may come back to bite us if it riles their players to up their game. - that said, it might see a couple of theirs sent off which could help.

Personally, I don't hold any emnity for West Ham and I wouldn't mind if they won the play offs because UP is easier to get to than Middlesboro or Blackpool. The Pardew thing is history. I just want the 3 points.

The pessimist in me sees a 1-1 draw. The optimist sees a 2-1 victory, and since I am naturally optimistic...

West Ham 1-2 Reading

Pearce, Roberts

They'll be right up for this one, probably break kebe and score early on then pick up another couple of goals as we chase the game.

West Ham's cup final. They'll probably win it, but I believe we will beat them 3-0 again.

Can already tell that Saturday is going to take bloody ages to come round. I reckon maybe by about Thursday I'll have spend enough time thinking about this game that I just don't care anymore. Maybe.

rfc2001 I'll take anything but a loss, but with our confidence and their terrible form Reading have to win!!

But we do bottle the big matches so we will probably lose 3-1.

I'm going for 2-0 Reading, Afobe to stick in a goal and a Hunty header! (on the assumption Robbo is injured)

the only base you didnt cover was opting for a draw

Mark my words. McD will pick a slightly under the weather Roberts ahead of Afobe on Saturday. Absolutely no doubt about it. :D

Hmm. Having watched the first game at Smallmead I was taken by the 'fragility of mind' of the visitors. West Ham looked as though if anything went against them in the slightest way, that they would either explode in a tantrum or implode like a falling soufflé. In part, both of these scenarios played out.

To be fair, over the years, like them or not, they have had a bloody good and loyal following...who have been constantly let down by a team that has not often reflected that. West Ham's away performances in particular, especially when they ventured north (to Cockneys this also includes places such as Devon, Wales and Norfolk), were less 'iron', and more 'iron hoof'. (Ironically, given Allardyce's 'style', you could perhaps give the Hammers that temporary epithet, judging by their own fans' judgement of his tactics and footballing approach.)

Anyway, enough shit. I think the battle on Saturday will be as much mental as physical. Coldly, there is a great deal less pressure on Reading to 'produce' and far more on West Ham to come up with any kind of goods that might match a seemingly excessively large level of expectation for a club that in recent years, has become somewhat of an under-achiever.

It'll be the coldest and hardest of minds that wins on Saturday. I think that McDermott sends out a side that is quite mentally 'set'. I'm not sure that Allardyce does the same. West Ham show a remarkable ability to buckle when things do not go their way. That could be the 'edge' that might decide the result.

Reading. Narrowly, and in a contained fashion.

West Ham's away form is far better than their home. Reading suffered last week at London Rd so who is to say that tonight's game is a nailed on away win for the Iron? So much about Saturday hinges on their game tonight. I fully expect BMcD to have assessed the opposition and come up with a game plan to nullify any threat that they may pose. May even go 5 in midfield to stifle them.

The atmos on Saturday will be electric. First 20 minutes essential and after that anything can happen. Minimum expectation is for a draw. A 0-0 snorefest will be perfect!
