I found the first half frustrating. So many passes given away. I thought Gunter was poor, Leigertwood struggled to put his stamp on the game, Hal Robson-Kanu was also poor, Federici's clanger was disappointing, but he will save us plenty of times in the coming games and will get over that; and Pogrebnyak I don't think won one header? For a big man I thought he was disappointing, but Huth and Shawcross are very physical centre-backs. We missed Roberts I thought.

Stoke were there for the taking. They can't win away, and rarely score away. We might have been better than them for large spells, but we were very infective, and we made far too many mistakes.

Second half was much improved. Guthrie grew into the game, and his range of passing was a joy to watch. We've been crying out for someone like him for a long time. Also HRK coming off was a long time overdue. McCleary is far better in every respect, and he changed the game for me. He's quick, got great feet, and no-one likes a player who runs at you, and that showed.

There are perhaps 12 sides in this league who could be pulled into a relegation dogfight, and players like Guthrie and McCleary will earn us some very important points against these sides.

Harte will get caught time and time again it is only a matter of time before he is obviously found out

Been hearing that bullshit for 2 years pal. The bloke is still class god know how long after his last Prem outing. Get ready to chalk up a few more Harte set piece winners this season.

Kebe Cummings
edinburghroyal I think McAnuff is not adding any value on the pitch and should get dropped. Same goes for bloody Queensley.

Very agree. Useless brainless chicken.

LongThrowSpecialist Never said you weren't a 'real' club, however I saw the whole ground taking part in the clapping and karaoke games, that says to me that the majority do like it.

If you didn't take part they wouldn't do it.

You'll find that this was actually a player chosen anthem that organically became the theme tune to our success last year and which the fans welcome as a celebration of that. It was massively overused by the club before the game, but like most things, it's all about context. Stokies don't get the context so sneer. But frankly, we don't give a shit.

Don't get this 'gunter was rubbish' stuff tbh. Ethrington made absolutely no impression down our gith all game, whilst Kightly had Harte on the back foot all game over on the other side.

Nothing to get, somebody said the majority of people on here find it embarrassing, so now it's us that aren't 'getting it'.

You still can't win away!

All joking aside, you could be in a lot of trouble this season. Good luck!

On the subject of HRK vs McCleary - please remember that McCleary came on and was given space to run into, HRK was not. It's all well and good saying McCleary picked up the ball and ran at his man, but that's easy to do when you have the time to control the ball, turn and then 10 yards in which to get moving. A lot of the time HRK couldn't have done that because he was much tighter marked and Stoke's shape was different.

So it's not as simple as some are making out, but McCleary does seem more determined to actually take the fight to the defender and force an error. And he was more effective and generally better. HRK has always seemed more content to wait and watch for an error from the defender, which is something I think he needs to get over before he can really progress much further.

Plenty of positives to take, mainly in how partnerships are going to develop, but still plenty of room from concern. Our main advantages would seem to be we always start the season a little slowly - so we'll get better, and we are good at picking off teams in the last 10 minutes of matches which will be invaluable.

Long throw specialist - some people on here are obssessed with what other clubs think and are embarrassed by bits of plastic card being given out, or people wearing colours. They're in a very firm minority. The point is, what looked like retarded clap along generic kareoke to you, had a very specific meaning to us. As I said, it was massively over-used.

If there's one thing I wish our lot could take from your lot, it's how to sing a song slowly and effectively. Although you should probably have a word with your morons who sing "this is a shit hole we wanna go home" everywhere they go. That's far more embarassing and retarded than clapping along to a pop song.

Oh and your team are the biggest bunch of cynical cheating oxf*rd I have the misfortune to come across since the last time we played in this league. You're even worse than Warnock's Leeds for gods sake. That's what you should be embarrassed and ashamed about.

Have a look at our away results for the last 4 years.

We are exactly the kind of team you need to beat to stay up. Good luck!

4 years? No, no, no. Let's look at last season, as most of your squad is still last season. You lot are in big trouble this season. Your very dependant on your home form, as I'm sure we will be. Years of wasting money on the likes of Kitson and Sonko (LOL) appear to be gone, and you now need to make use of what you have, plus a few bargains if you can get them (Kightly is a class act if he can stay fit - big if).

Don't kid yourselves, you are very much one of the 8-9 that could go down this season.

We have a flush owner that will give Pulis big money if he offloads dead wood and what is now fringe players like Kenwyne. He returned to stoke to make amends for when he was last here and left us in a mess. Stoke born and bred and loves the club. We also have a manager who is an expert in relegation dog fights, he's never been relegated in his career. If we do get dragged down there, we have the best manager in the league for the occasion.

You make it sound like we are sling, far from it. We didn't waste money on Kitson he was highly rated and was the best level we were going to get at the time, for some reason he was just generally crap here. Sonko did a job for us, mainly as back up to centre defence.

You are right, we have a chance of going down, but not as much as you.

Bizarre where your hatred has come from! :)

No hatred towards Stoke. I think their fans are superb. I think their team are very average though, and just saying it how it is. You're in trouble this season.

If we're so bad and in trouble, yet made you look clueless and had to gift you a goal for you to get a point, you must also be up shit creek. If you had to say which team was predicted to finsih bottom after that match, it would have been Stoke, not us.

No, but that's because I was at the game, which probably sets out the difference between me and the ones writing the reports.

You might want to ask yourself that question. You were 2nd best to the new boys yesterday, who didn't play that well until the final 15 or so minutes.

You're in trouble my old son. You better hope this money you talk about is there, otherwise you're knackered. Defo relegation risk this season.

Second best? Why who was first? Certainly wasn't Reading.

It was nice when your fans celebrated like they won the cup final when you equalised. Heart warming.

WUM comment which is predictable in it's reasoning. Needing to get off the mark was more important to us going into the next game.
