Chelsea fan in peace

by me5537 » 20 Aug 2012 23:38

Hello all, welcome back to the Premier League!

Few questions about Wednesday:

(1) What do you predict the score to be?
(2) Are you pleased with Reading's summer transfers?
(3) Any Reading players to watch out for at the Bridge?
(4) If you could take 2 Chelsea players for Reading's square, who would you pick?
(5) Where do you think Reading will finish in the league?
(6) What is your top 4 prediction?

Thanks guys. Should be a good game. Can see Chelsea resting a few players for Saturday against Newcastle too.

HAH - didn't mean it like that. You are away to Sunderland so will be resting players too. Could both put out interesting line ups that's all.

Hi mate, welcome.

1) I reckon we'll nick a goal, lead for a bit, then let it slip and take a bit of a battering late on. 3-1 to Chelsea.
2) Very pleased, another striker and we're completely set. Guthrie for me was a masterstroke.
3) McCleary could well start and has looked dangerous since arriving from Forest this summer, also Danny Guthrie will most likely be influential for us in the middle of the park. Le Fondre has a tendency to pop up in the right place at the right time, and could punish you for any slack defending e.g. some of the Wigan game.
4) One of the two would have to be Bertrand. Spent a year here on loan, looked fantastic and everyone was very fond of him. One of my favourite players outside of RFC at the moment.
5) Heart says 12th, head says 17th - which would do nicely anyway. Survival will satisfy most.
6) I think United and City will make up the top two in one way or another, with Arsenal and Chelsea in 3rd and 4th. If your new players settle quickly then it could be a very impressive season for you.

Enjoy the game!

Clearly you have no knowledge of our club whatsoever. Not that I would expect you to. We don't rest players for games.

We put out our strongest team on almost every occasion, be it in the league or cup, which is reflected in our recent cup runs/league form.

First off...ta.

(1) What do you predict the score to be?
Well seeing you're prolly looking past us we might be able to nick a couple on the counter and win 2-1 or we will lose 4-1.

(2) Are you pleased with Reading's summer transfers?
Yes. Possibly might need one more up front but after this upcoming game at Stamford Bridge we get Jason Roberts back so that'll help out there.

(3) Any Reading players to watch out for at the Bridge?
Ian Harte is always a threat on all set pieces as is our big CB Alex Pearce on corners if the delivery is good. Pogrebnyak will always be a threat provided if the service is there. But we don't have many "big stars" and play a total team game.

(4) If you could take 2 Chelsea players for Reading's square, who would you pick?
As someone else noted, Bertrand. He enjoyed his time here on loan, he knows a bunch of the guys on our team and we really liked him. Always liked Gary Cahill too

(5) Where do you think Reading will finish in the league?
Anywhere between 8th and 17th. Such is the state of the PL this season.

(6) What is your top 4 prediction?
Everton
Man City
Newcastle
Man Utd
(not in any particular order and confirming my lack of being overly impressed with any of the London based teams this season)

Oh, and, congrats on the Champions League this past season. Great win, but didn't see that coming...

Is there a set format for opposition team support* to post on this site.

*doubtful.

1) 4-0 Chelsea.
2) Moderately. I still think we lack genuine quality in some areas, which I think the Stoke game highlighted.
3) Guthrie and McCleary. The latter changed the game when he came on after 60-odd mins on Saturday. He may well be asked to do the same Weds night.
4) Hazard and Cole. I know Cole is getting on a bit but he's still world class.
5) In the relegation zone, sadly.
6) City>Chelsea>Utd>A.N.Other - I think Chelsea are the main threat to City this year, esp after United's toothless performance last night.

(1) What do you predict the score to be? - 2-2 Lampard, Cole, Le Fondre, Pearce
(2) Are you pleased with Reading's summer transfers? - Yes
(3) Any Reading players to watch out for at the Bridge? - Noel Hunt, just in case Petr Cech mistakes him for his brother.
(4) If you could take 2 Chelsea players for Reading's square, who would you pick? - If it's just for Chelsea v Reading game, I'd take Petr Cech & Henrique Hilario and hope Ross Turnbull has an off day. Otherwise, Eden Hazard and Ryan Bertrand.
(5) Where do you think Reading will finish in the league? - top 15
(6) What is your top 4 prediction? - Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool

This one doesn't ask thoughts on their transfers, as it doesn't really warrant conversation from our perspective... "Oh, I don't know, kind of shti really. Wouldn't want them on my team." :|
