I could see positives in that performance. Morrison increasingly looking like the real deal, Jobi and HRK had great games, and not least losing by the odd goal in seven to the best team in the country.

What was disappointing was the lack of urgency in the second half, although anything would have been an anti-climax after the first.

On the downside, Norwich beat Man U at home a couple of weeks ago, and we couldn't do that.

However, we're not that far off, just that tiny bit more, maybe in January. May be too late by then of course.

Plenty of positives to take not that most on here will acknowledge that.

Plenty of positives I agree but as they said on ESPN we are often in games but our defending is so dire that it is very difficult for us to win games.
The main positive for me was that we didn't play hoofball and that has been the case in the games also against Chelsea and Arsenal so Brian these lads can play a bit-let them do so.
Somebody posted the other day that we probably need to win 9 games which I fear is too tall an order.
BTW the two games I have missed this season-Man Utd and Arsenal, teams that we never beat but loads of goals involved.

Lol at Raphael

Much better compared to villa, but we cant keep giving away so many goals and hope to get any points. We were def still cut open far too easily and still want Pearce back. Kanu had a great game much better than Jobi. Still think Roberts needs to learn to pass more instead of trying to be the hero

Feds was very worrying

Quite a thrilling first half. If the truth be told though, Utd hardly broke into a sweat in the second half and pretty much freewheeled their way to the win.

HRK played well and has a certain robustness about him. Total lack of class in central midfield however, which surely has to be the priority now.

Pretty much the same story as the rest of the season so far...not bad by any stretch, but not good enough.

I have a feeling we are the new Barnsley-they produced some exciting games when they were at the top level but didn't win many.

Once again pre game we had the Madman on the pitch doing the rallying/self-publicity as if he owns the place.
Sorry John but you don't any more.

Will always sem to put up a spirited effort against the big teams at home, sadly you knew who the winner would be.

Well that was jokes wasn't it. At last, a Reading game I quite enjoyed. Ok, so we are hilarious defensively - the third goal was particularly abject - but we gave it a good go throughout, finally kept some shape second half and could maybe have snatched something from it. We're very clearly going to be relegated this season so at least lets try and make the games as enjoyable as that was. This was a million times better than the rubbish we served up at Villa, although we clearly raised our game today. United were generous with their defending as well, they will win the league this season but this is hardly one of their great sides of all time!

Two negtatives were Shaun Cummings - played narrow and looks out of his depth, the alternative being Gunter means we'll be weak in that position until at least January. And Federici, who made an absolute meal of a routine back pass and then set about blaming the defence. If anything summed up his miserable efforts this season it was that sorry little incident, I'd rather hope he'd be a little more circumspect and humble by now.
