I have mixed feelings on this. Both Poyet and Adkins are respected for their pleasing on the eye football, but one was going to cost us £2m in compensation, and the other is out of work and has a far more impressive CV. If given the choice, and considering we will almost certainly be in the Championship next season, it's Nigel Adkins for me all the way. Without taking a gamble, I can see no-one better qualified to take us back up.

What leads you to say that adkins wont come here?

Totally agree with this. Poyet's reputation is very good, but if you look at Adkins vs Poyet since they got promoted from League 1, Adkins has taken his second place side and got them promoted again, and looked reasonably good in the PL before arguably an unfair dismissal. Poyet on the other hand has taken his championship winning side to 10th last season and a chance to fill the final play-off spot this season. I think Poyet is riding his reputation as a player a little and Adkins seems the better candidate

The whole Poyet crap (thank you media), kind of put me off Adkins.

If he rejects us then we are truly oxf*rd.

Poyet was, realistically, always unlikely to take the position. Brighton and Reading are a similar size of club so no real reason to skip town when he's spent the last 3 years building something down there.

Can't blame Anton for having a chat with him though. I'd imagine they'd have known it was unlikely though and will make their move for Adkins tomorrow. Perhaps Adkins has always been their first choice and just wanted to talk to Poyet.

At the end of the day, nobody has a scooby doo about what's gone on over the last couple of days.

Pretty much exactly what I said on the poll thread. Completely agree - everything is pure speculation & no one knows their list of candidates. Lets hope we can do all we can to get Adkins.

Why the f*ck does everyone want Adkins. He's just a Brian Mcdermott with hair on his head. Yes, he will get us promoted, but we'll be in exactly the same position as we were this year: clueless! A guy who can't even speak english is a better manager than him!

Reading FC need a DICK (advocaat). Otherwise, we should have just kept mcdermott.

People seem to be forgetting the plan is to be a long term premier league club, not just 'get promoted' because we're just going to have 1 shit premier league season and relegation after another.
