Hopefully the surprise early exposure showing him how much of a jump up there really is will inspire him.

Suspect this is another academy and actually not connected to Reading FC.

Have checked further find that they are based at Hartley Wintney so no connection as I suspected.

Hound
Hendo
Hound Clarke clearly not quite ready for the first team, but seems to be really impressing at u23

Lots of potential there

Hopefully he doesn't go the way of Danny Loader and never really makes the jump.

yes of course - don't want to start the hype but there's a lot to like there. Fast, tall, decent shot on him. Just got to keep working hard and progressing

In the games I’ve even he’s not really impressed to be honest. He’s done the odd thing but we’ve had other players at that level who just look a level above everyone else (Josh Barrett !) and while Clarke clearly has talent I don’t think he isn’t close to being as good as Azeez.
Of course not every player who makes it tomthe first team is a standout at academy level - Rino for example was ok at U23 but not the best we had, likewise I think Tom Holmes only really showed his true ability once he was playing in the first team.
Hopefully Clarke does train on, but as has been mentioned before I think his size makes people assume he is a centre forward whereas I’m not sure that is where he will end up.

Clarke not in the U23 team today, would suggest he'll be in the matchday squad tomorrow.

Quite a few others aren’t in it either. We will have five or possibly more under 23’s in the squad tomorrow.

Congratulations to young #readingfc CB Michael Stickland who has signed his first professional deal.

Club also confirm a new addition to the U23s - ex-Chelsea midfielder Rashawn Scott for the rest of the season.

Bit of a mystery as to what Rashawn has been doing the last couple of years, since leaving Chelsea. Hope he can crack on with us.

Unless I missed it, no mention of the length of Stickland's deal?

Chelsea Youth (unofficial account run by someone who really knows his stuff) said this on Twitter:

Rashawn left Chelsea at the age of 15 in the middle of a journey that hasn't always been easy on or off the pitch, but he's a talented player, and hopefully will now get the opportunity to show that.

Obviously he’s young and entitled to privacy. Not unheard of for kids released at 15/16 to struggle to find a club, especially in the current situation.

Next up for the U 23`s at the Select Car Leasing stadium is a PL 2 Div 2 match against bottom of the league Southampton on Monday October 25th KO 7pm. It`s half-term so should be a decent crowd in.
