Reading are pleased to announce that 18-year-old defender Jeriel Dorsett has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2022

It’s the one area where we have real depth at the moment.

Not current I know, but....... congratulations to local lad Jamie Gittens who left the academy in 2018 (u14s but playing up with u16s) to join Man City. Stand out player in his age group at the time (together with Diamond Edwards). Has now joined Borussia Dortmund following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham. Great player from a lovely family. Good luck to him!

Wondered where he’d gone - must be an injury or something

Good luck to him anyway, must have something about him

Giving him two years in the current climate suggests the club see something in him. He seems mature for an 18 year old. One to watch.

A good news story this evening. Dejan Tetek has said in an interview that Veljko Paunović contacted the Serbia FA about him and he then began the switch of changing from England to Serbia.

With his debut for us last weekend and now on a training camp with the Serbia U19’s - what a week it’s been for the local lad.

2 things that stand out to me about this are:

Pauno is very well respected by the Serbian FA. If he recommends them a player you can take it that he thinks the player is good enough. Thats exciting. If Tetek is considered good enough by a youth World Cup winning manager then he could be very good indeed.

The other thing is it shows us a little insight into his work on the training ground. He really must be taking a look at the academy lads if he had enough time to make that judgement. Very promising signs.
