I guess that over the coming years there will be an increase in the number of Brits with "foreign" sounding names as the integration of Europeans in the last 20 years or so takes a firmer hold. Their children obviously will have the opportunity to represent their UK home or their Parental nation

I suspect if they are good enough, they will declare for England as it is far more lucrative. England born/naturalised players declaring for another country are far more likely in Reading's academy then in ManCity's - it's down to a player realistically assessing his chances of playing international football. See Jack Grealish vs Harry Arter, for instance.

Yes of course, that's a given. I'm sure that any player wanting to get international exposure will explore all their potential avenues even if it means having to declare for someone as lowly as Scotland!!

Jack Stacey says it is out of his hands as to whether he stays at Exeter City next month.

The versatile player signed on loan at St James's Park from Reading in August until January 23, 2017, meaning he is shortly to enter the final month of his deal.

Whilst the 20-year-old says he is enjoying his time at the Grecians, he has no control over whether he will stay at the club or not.

"It's out of my hands at the moment but I've really enjoyed the time I've been here," he said.

"I've learnt a lot from the manager and all the players and staff as well, so we'll see what happens."

Stacey has been filling in at right-back following Pierce Sweeney's injury, having also played in the centre of midfield and on the wing, and he says it has been a learning curve.

"I've played in three different positions for Exeter so far and I think I've shown that I can play them," he said

"It has been a learning curve – I think playing consistently at a senior level has been a massive learning curve for me and I've enjoyed it as well."

He added: "Sometimes you've got to make the decision to come out and say you need to go out and learn and gain more experience before maybe you're ready to go and play at a Championship club."

He means STUART Moore, (the goalkeeper) me thinks. BBC website says Ilori "is understood " to have signed for RFC. No conformation on either the Reading FC or Liverpool FC website it has been done. More media rubbish like so many times in the past? How many have we "signed" according to the papers/radio/TV only to find it was a an imaginary story with no foundation? I do not believe any story until it is confirmed by the club.

It's not like anyone is interested in the future of our club - which they seem to harp on about enough.

He hasn't featured for the U23s this season I don't think? So fairly far down the pecking order. Luke Southwood, Stuart Moore, Lewis Ward, Joe Tupper all ahead of him.
