Harsh penalty at first glance for handball against Ashcroft. Villa scored.

I agree penalty looked very harsh but our defending has been awful overall and we are very lucky to only be 2-1 down.

Half time. Pretty even. Our defending is a bit rubbish (although Abbey is an obvious baller), midfield is very technical but might generously be described as ambitious, and NML has a good presence and took his goal well. Both teams a little sloppy at times. We’re not creating quite enough but Villa have squandered most of their chances, CBC made a few good saves but will be disappointed with the first goal.

Villa players are in our box and there is not a defender within yards !!

What are these coaches teaching these lads. Time and again Villa take set pieces short and no one thinks to cover the space.

We pulled it back to 3-3 only to concede a late winner, Louie Barry tapping in at the back post at a corner.

Couldn’t place most of the midfielders but they all looked good on the ball, very good touches and comfortable in tight spaces. Sackey was a revelation when he came on and should probably have started. Hamilton-Olise (any relation?) took his goal well. Defensively we were a shambles, Abbey the one bright spark there but even he was mostly notable for his passing.

Good summary.

Royals and Racers Burnley 1 Reading 0 8 mins- no team details yet.

Usual top notch coverage of Academy games by Reading FC! Nothing on twitter or the OS. At least Burney FC twitter are more on the ball.

Further to earlier in the thread - Pendlebury, Osario, Nevers and Azeez all seem to have disappeared from line ups recently. Are they all injured?

Oh and did Luzon actually sign. He played for us once I think then also disappeared again.

Burnley 2-1 up 45 mins- H-T 2-1
Pendlebury has been playing- Nevers and Osario must be injured, probably Azeez as well. Luzon has signed and played at Palace.
