Seems a forgotten man, out of his depth in the premiership, but could do a great holding job if we are winning with 20 minutes to go , like the Watford game!

Did you consider calling yourself Rodney instead?

Surely if we're building a squad for the Premier League, we can't rely on players that will be out of their depth in the Premier League.

Supposed to be out injured but Charlton have enquired about him. I think it'd be good for him and us if he made a move this window. He wont get near the first team with the midfielders ahead of him.

Yes we are, good observation, but I haven't heard the chairman or manager saying, "We're building a mid-table Championship club", they're aiming for the Premier League so surely want to build a squad capable of making it there? Perhaps they were a bit unrealistic thinking we'd just bounce back straight away but if the long term vision is Premier League, surely Leigertwood isn't part of that.

Knew the OP would be quite moronic having seen the thread title. I could never take an opinion on anything related to RFC seriously by someone who is clueless about (among other things) spelling players' names correctly. I feel the same way when I hear a verbal argument/discussion about the club; I can listen attentively to the person's opinion until the moment they say "Majesski", then I can't help but think they're a simple idiot.

It's not a personal dig at you, shit like that just gets on my tits.

In what way is having him in the squad relying on him? There's nothing wrong with having some players in your squad who won't make the step up should we get promoted. We can't have a PL squad in the Championship. Those are the sort of players you replace once you go up.

Ledge looks great in a team of cloggers and hoofers

We're not that kind of team anymore

That's only really three players (and maybe Akpan).

Last season we used at least 6 central midfielders, plus McAnuff.
The previous season we used 5 central midfielders, again plus McAnuff.

Given we were using 4-4-2 for much of the time, I might suggest Leigertwood is fairly likely to get games this season, particularly if we decide to play 4-3-3. There might be better ways to spend his wages, but he's an excellent player and ideally a club with our financial clout should be able to keep him.

leigertwood?

Horrible to see one of our best and hardworking midfielders go down to a horrific injury last night, wish him a speedy recovery but looks very bad. Ledge is almost fit again whilst akpan did okish when coming on but i feel people thought he had a bad game due to his inexperience. Akpan missed alot of potential good passes and when he got a yellow card he started to pull out of tackles. I feel ledge could do a very decent job in the midfield this season as what he lacked last year was support and with the likes of williams around him i feel he could do very well as karacans replacement.

Thoughts?

He was mentioned in passing a few times last night, but it appeared mostly in jest... may have a role to play if injuries dictate as much.

Ledge in the holding midfield role who be just what we need I think. Would free up Guthrie to get further up the pitch and influence our attacks more.

He may have struggled in the Prem (not a crime), which a lot of people give him stick for, but everyone seems to have forgotten how immense he was in our title winning campaign.
