Didnt NA already choose Morro as the captain if McAnuff was not in the starting 11?

Maybe NA is planning to add a couple of quality central defenders to the squad and therefore can't make Pearce or Morrisson captain if they're on the bench.

Pearce is the most passionate player out there and can still lead by example without an armband on. The role of official captain is just that.

UpThePrem For me Pearce wouldn't even start let alone be captain. Morro and Hector in defence with Gunter or Guthrie skipper.

Good lord no!

id usually agree

but maybe the responsibility will focus his mind, make him more of a team player

when he makes the midfield tick, it does tick better than usual
it just hasnt happened often

West Stand Man
Ian Royal
JakeTheRoyal Doing the same with Jem and Morro on twitter, out of those 3 surely Jem

What, ahead of the guy who's already been captain?

I assume you are referring to Alex Pearce?

No. That would be Morrison, the guy who was frequently captain last season under Adkins ahead of both Jem and Gunter, when he played. Not the guy who was captain about 3 or 4 years ago under a different manager.

Other than shake hands and call Heads/Tails can someone remind what difference a captain actually makes? A leader will impart himself regardless of a cloth armband

Thats exactly the reason i'd have him captain. We know from reports last year (or was it the year before) that he loves being a mentor type figure to the younger players and this year the team will be full of younger players.

He'll certainly have a clearer perspective from the bench and be better able to communicate with Adkins for instructions.

Gunter seems too quiet to be captain. Doesn't seem to be a leader.

McAnuff was hardly Michael Parkinson himself, but remains one of only two men to captain Reading to the Premier League.

I wouldn't want Guthrie as captain but I agree with you about Morro and Hector being the centre half partnership.

I'm his biggest fan but poor choice for captain. Not a leader & not vocal. Has to be Pearce.
