Reading - Minutes per nationality

by Clyde1998 » 10 Oct 2013 21:02

Following the BBC Sport "State of the Game" report, which shows that 55.4% of minutes in the Championship are played by English players. I decided to see how Reading stacked up individually:

County - Minutes - % of Mins
After eleven matches
England - 5,002 - 46.2%
Wales - 1,561 - 14.4%
Ireland - 1,310 - 12.1%
Jamaica - 885 - 8.2%
Netherlands - 542 - 5.0%
Turkey - 538 - 5.0%
Russia - 401 - 3.7%
N Ireland - 302 - 2.8%
USA - 290 - 2.7%

British players - 6,865 - 63.4%
EU Players - 8,717 - 80.5%

Reading are below average on English players and British players.

It's a bit of a joke really. Pearce, McAnuff, Mccleary are English for example.

That's was how the BBC report was done - which I agree is wrong really. I see if I can do this for where the players were born as well.

Fair enough. I didn't want to sound so negative, really good of you to go to the time and effort to put together the stats, it just does seem funny how so many of our English players have opted to play for other international teams and therefore are not classed as English!

Not sure the Nation Represented stats add up given Shorey was the only player last season that had represented England in a game

Nationality only matters if they are not Reading players. Alan Pardew buying 9 French players for Newcastle seems like treason, for which we should string him up, but I didn't mind at all when he bought Goater, Murray, etc for us.

Daniel Williams wasn't born in the USA, he was born in Germany. Not even sure he ever lived in the States.

Its not really funny. Its because it gave them more of a chance to be an international player.
