Madejski has been great for the club, he has moved our expectations up, has provided a new stadium and, when realising his own limitations, has been quite happy to say that he will sell the club to a more financially-stacked, but equally determined, new Owner. He obviously tried to do that with the 'Russian Connection' but, unfortunately that did not work out.

More unfortunately, he is now not the Owner and we should not expect great things from him when he might not be repaid for his efforts.

We need a new Owner!

John Madejski's Wallet
Big Ern
One Richie Bowman Can we have another round of 'One John Madejski" at Saturdays game against Blackburn to show our appreciation for the Chairman. Surely he has done more than anyone for Reading FC over the years. We can all criticise the guy for minor points but where he has taken this club during his tenure has been further than in the rest of the Clubs history ..... One John Madejski, local boy made good, good all round bloke and great Chairman

From Stoke actually and also with regards to the round of "One John Madejsk?" I think not.

Why would anyone sing tho praises of the man desperate to flog us to the first person he can find to buy it. He helped us a lot and his contribution to the club should not be forgotten , but I think the last few years will damage his legacy as far some supporters are concerned

Wasn't exactly sold to the first person come along was it? He's been trying to flog us for years

Exactly, if he didn't have the best interests of the club at heart, he would have accepted one of the latest bids whether it be Omani or American. The only question I would have with those two bids and the rejection of them would be, who actually rejected the bids? They were both was pre SJM getting the casting vote. Did Anton reject them or SJM?

My guess would be that he rejected them for the same reason he said he rejected the bid for Alfie, it didn't match his minimum valuation. He needs to get enough for the club to keep AZ happy ie make him sell his shares. Any less and he'd have to dip into his own pockets to get AZ to agree to sell to the new owner.

No, I want to be able to imagine it. Mostly so I can replay it over and over in my mind when I need cheering up.

You could imagine bumming him to death, if that will cheer you up.

A twist on your idea, I'd like him to bum me until he dies. Just so it's his choice he is taking part. And he's crying. Part from shame, part from bliss. Then his tiny brain has an aneurysm from trying to think about shit more complicated than being a pig.

My feelings on this are that for the short-term we're in very safe hands, but Sir John is not the man to take us forward. Good owners are very hard to come by. Let's just hope we get lucky and Sir John doesn't have to take a risk when the time comes that he HAS to sell.

Not much new in there.

Fans divided: One bunch clapping away at hero JM back in the chair. Other bunch thinking a bit more about it, realising we aren't really going to go anywhere but backwards until someone else comes in.

And of course, the return of Madge means we have lots more complete silence to look forward to.

One minute we were on the verge of being bought by 3 different parties, fighting over each other. Next minute... let me consult John's update here... yup, we... don't.

It's great being kept abreast.

Not slaggin him off. Its just not the greatest news is it? He's got no money. We go up, we are going to struggle. We fail to go up, we are going to lose players. His "stability" is purgatory.

better than the alternative

personally i have no great problem with living within our means, going up occasionally, and selling our best players to fill gaps. thats what little clubs must do.and its what we've always done.

Agreed, but this is a very different SJM to that of a few years ago. He can't afford to run the club long-term, and he can't afford to loan us money at generous interest repayment rates, so the club has to pay for itself - and that is near impossible, let alone maintaining Championship status. They'll have to be massive changes this summer, and then for every summer thereafter we'll have to sell at least two players; more if not for big fees, just to survive. Whilst the clubs future is what matters most, if we have to live like that under SJM for more than a couple of seasons, we will be fighting off relegation to League One. The importance of finding a new owner with deeper pockets than SJM really can't be underestimated.

Maybe the boom years are over and we are due a "reset" to a lower Champ/D1 level over the coming years?

It may be, and I don't mind that - that's what football is all about, but what a shame if we have to see all the progress we've made be wasted. Still, relegation to League One wouldn't be the end of the world, not with our infrastructure. Not unless things were a lot worse than we are lead to believe..

Not going forwards maybe, but also not really going backwards either. At least, there's been no real sign of it yet.

It'll do.

As for your suggestion for FG, I'd go for giving him a viagra overdose and putting a razorblade full, penile extension on him (all blades pointing inward and no danger to the outside), then strapping him to an automoton with a line of homosexual gentlemen who get to enjoy the pleasure of his forced buggery, whilst his cock is torn to shreds by the razor and he slowly bleeds to an agonizing and humiliating death.

Do I win?
