Whatever happened tp?

by paddy20 » 24 Mar 2014 11:42

Not sure if this has been done before but it would be good to know what happened to the Reading players from any era after they left

We all know the Robin Friday story but what about some of the rest. When I started watching Reading most of the players left to become trades or run a pub. I think Arthur Wilkie ( one of the best Reading goalkeepers ) became a painter and decorator I think. Maurice Evans became our manager. Any other stories might be interesting.

I think Chris Makie now has a fruit and veg stall somewhere in London

Caskey is assistant manager at Gateshead

Grant Brebner is still playing in Austrailia... I think he might be a manager too.

Andy Bernal went on to be David Beckhams agent and assistant for a bit!

Keith Scott was manager at Windsor and Eton until reently

John Mackie, and he went back to running a fruit and veg stall just as he did before we gave him his chance signing from Sutton I think it was.

Now has a stall and a shop so business is doing well. Still follows what happens at RFC and one of my kids is chuffed to have him as a follower and quite regular communicator on twitter.

I met a chap called Alan something or other the other day who played 200 odd games for RFC in the late 70s before moving to Derby. He was a painter and decorator now and a massive pisshead. Also a bit of a sex case. He was telling me a story about getting through 13 prostitutes in 24 hours in Amsterdam. And banging Robin Fridays ex missus.

Good laugh though.
