Mr Angry This would be a good signing if for no other reason than any posters who think John Terry is a God will implode at the news................. :D

A good enough reason for liking AF if we sign him.
And if we start playing it out from the back we can sing "give it to Anton" again.

Annoyingly, if we'd kept Bridge we could have had the countries best anti-Terry defense in the world.

Martin41 Not even confirmed yet, and some of you have him hung, drawn and quartered!!!
Oh no he scored an own goal......... 7 bloody years ago!
If it goes through, which they seem to think it will, I say welcome and good luck.

Victor Meldrew
marcusopp Can't believe some morons are slating a central defender for an o.g.
Marcelo scored one in the opening game of the world cup. Is he sh1t too?
If it goes through i think he's a great addition to the squad.
Ferdinand will bring out the best in Pearce/ Morro as they like to attack the ball and Ferdinand can cover and use the ball.

If we can get Mackie and a left back too, this could well turn out to be a good season...
All the players we're linked with are seasoned pros, so should settle in very quickly too

So we are going 3 at the back are we?
How on earth do you know that?
Are you Nigel in disguise?

Oi, steady on, there's no need for that! My sun tan is natural!
I meant Pearce or Morro hence the /
I'd guess the back 4 will be;
Obita Ferdinand Pearce Gunter until a left back is signed.

If it helps, I thought it was pretty obvious that's what you were saying.

Free agent? I thought he had previously signed for Police Utd.

So, has he or hasn't he signed?

Did he fail the medical?

Was our offer not enough?

Is he too good for us, in his opinion?

Does he prefer his hoops to be narrower?

Answers on a postcard please.

Maybe Nigel has thanked the new owners for the suggestion but put in on hold while he explores other options....

Think he was unveiled at Police United but they say he wasn't registered in time... He will be a way off fitness I should imagine, so what's the hurry?

I don't expect him to come in first choice, but just to provide cover. IMO good signing in this instance

Dave-Royal Anton Ferdinand 'close to Reading move'
9 August 2014 Updated 20:43

"I would anticipate Anton will be joining us by Monday." - Reading manager Nigel Adkins
Reading manager Nigel Adkins expects defender Anton Ferdinand to complete his move to the Royals on Monday.
Ferdinand, 29, spent last season in Turkey with Antalyaspor after being released by QPR (external) and had been in talks with the Championship outfit.
And after Saturday's 2-2 draw at Wigan, Adkins confirmed a deal was imminent.
"That one is close to being completed as far as I'm aware," said Adkins. "I would anticipate Anton will be joining us by Monday."
It was thought at one point in the summer that Ferdinand would be moving to Thailand to join Police United. (external)
However, the deal never went through, leaving the central defender free to complete his return to England.

We already knew that!
