And I'll accept yours for doom mongering that we've got no control over the transfer when it's pretty clearly a done deal, even based on that.

Sounds nothing like a done deal if that's exactly what Murray has said...sounds like he will have the final word and hasn't agreed unreservedly to join after loan deal expires...

Colin has history of preferring his 'own men'.

True, but he's also got a track record of wanting 328 strikers so letting one go is a bit of a mystery

I wasn't doom mongering, don't be such a queen. I was concerned this deal might go the same way as previous loans and that if he's any good we might not be able to hold onto him. You said I was talking crap and that the decision is contractually in our hands alone.

Turns out it was you who was talking crap, me ole mucks.

That said, it does beg the question: what is the point of a 'loan with option to buy' deal, then? I preffered you being right tbh

In all honesty I'm guessing there's a framework in place with some small room for maneuver depending on performance, and like pretty much anything, if someone wants to wreck it bad enough they'll manage it.

There's got to be a fee negotiated already and Murray is going to have a damn good idea of what we're going to pay him and for how long. So it's surely got to take something spectacular to not go through.

CRYSTAL Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has said that there is no deal in place for Glenn Murray to join Reading on a permanent deal in January.

The striker has scored three goals in six outings for the Royals.

Murray's loan now has the option of a Palace recall but he is due to stay in Berkshire until the start of January.

Palace have covered his exit by bringing in Kevin Doyle on loan from Wolves and also handing Andrew Johnson a short-term deal.

Parish said: “There’s certain things in there [the loan deal] that I wouldn’t want to comment on,” said Parish.

“It’s all up in the air - but he has definitely not signed for Reading.”

“It’s all up in the air - but he has definitely not signed for Reading.”

The article quoted seems to word it such that there is no deal for Reading to buy Murray, whereas that final quote suggests that there's a possibility that there's a deal in place but we haven't taken up the option on it.

Either that or it is just a straightforward loan deal.

I suspect that your wait for that apology may be as long as our wait for Hammond and co to sign a proven goalscorer at Championship level on a permanent contract!
