savage 4 england Will play just behind the main striker, something we've been lacking for a while.

Wouldn't just assess him on the goals he scores.

Sort of like Doyle? Works hard, brings others into the game and hopefully scores 10-15

Pretty much what I said yesterday...

Was a bit concerned that he needed a 2nd medical as it seemed a bit unusual, but sounds positive.

Do you have stats on how many 2nd medicals are taken compared to just one?

Nope, no idea, it just isn't something I seem to hear about with us. Given Williams knee problems can understand why the club are being extra careful though if we have any concerns.

It's not just about goals, is it? He can play behind the striker. Very possibly a better option than HRK. He improves us and adds strength in depth that we don't currently have! The Antonio sell-on pretty much pays for the transfer. It's a decent signing.

Hey don't feel guilty. We make special allowances for simpletons that can't see the bigger picture.

I know his last couple of seasons haven't been the gr8est, but I'm very pleased with this. At 27 he still has improvement in him, and a return to the club where it all started could kick start a revival. If he can get back to the level he was at 3 years ago then at 600k he'll be an absolute bargain. He also plays in an area where we desperately some help in.

So yeah, chuffed. Should get a decent welcome on Saturday from the travelling fans too. :)

You only have to look at Burnley last season to see that you don't need to buy big players for big fees (take note Floyd). The team is what is most important, not the individuals and a player like Simon Cox is what we have been after for quite a while. It won't take him long to settle back in and he still knows quite a few of the players here.

Agreed with that, although let's be clear, we aren't going to do a Burnley.

@charles_watts: Getting Simon Cox ends a long chase for Adkins, has tracked him for years ever since a game between Scunthorpe and Northampton #readingfc

Obviously an Adkins choice. I look forward to him building his own team.
