To get four points from those two games with the injuries and self-imposed transfer embargo this preseason is quite something. Great to see so many academy players holding their own at this level.

floyd__streete Hector a concern......Has to step up to the plate today and prove himself, he's hardly shone for us thus far (albeit in a different position).

BOOM

Well done Reading. To be able to eek out a narrow win against capable Championship opposition with such an inexperienced squad is superb.

Outstanding result, with all the young lads involved to get 4 points out of our first two games is a remarkable achievement !!

BonBoh so, 1-0 up at half time. All we need is to keep a clean sheet for 45 mins.
Without Morro, that shouldn't be so much of a problem.

haha... is self quoting allowed or a bit too smug?

Bye Morrison. We didn't miss you today. Welcome Michael Hector and our first clean sheet of the season.

4 points from the first 2 games with the injury crisis and the transfer issues we have had is brilliant work from adkins! good showing from our academy players! although it doesnt sounds like were playing the quality of football we were in the first game, its the results that matter at this point with all our issues! at least until we get our players back.

wigan, fulham, brighton, all lose too!

Lovely stuff. Nice ground out win. Hector immense, so was Gunts and Pog. Blackman and Akpan abysmal, obvs.

Also big shout out to our Nige's subs today. Edwards plenty of chasing when we needed some energy, and Cooper gobbled up everything that came near him.

We'd have won 200-0 if Jem, Guthrie and Williams were playing.

Massive win. Ipswich are the type of physical team that we were always going to struggle against with such a young squad, but we stood up manfully. Hector was gr8, almost got caught out a couple of times in his positioning but his recovery pace and strength is so good that he'll be fine in this division once he gains that experience he'll be an absolute tank. Will easily command 3x the fee that we got for Morrison in a couple of years time.

We didn't play particularly well though. Akpan was completely lost in midfield. Was spent after 20 mins. But Cox did some nice stuff in the hole and Pog fought valiantly up front which created a few chances. Today wasn't about the performance though, it was about the spirit and fight that we showed. Add the right type of quality in the next couple of weeks and we have a chance this season.

I'd have thought Eamonn Dolan had a lot to do with that.
