Leave him alone. He's just showing everybody how to show a girl a good time. She must live in a real shithole if she's going to be impressed by Middlesbrough.

I feel strangely elated that at the end of the match there were seven academy-produced players on the pitch. I know this was largely due to injuries but, even so, it strikes me as something to be rather smugly pleased about.

Yep, proud of this too. Especially because they look half decent at times.

Good win though we weren't pretty. You could tell our midfield were youngsters at times.

Agree re ak - 1 match to many.

Will which group were you with? The annoying fat one, or the other annoying fat one but ginger?

We were lucky not to concede a goal or two. Could easily have lost. But then again we were unlucky against Wigan. That's football. Hopefully we can get 3 or 4 players back from injury and then start to perform.

The annoying fat one (and he is bloody annoying), no way I could spend time with the other lot, absolute tossers!

Will95 Only done aways for about 3 years now (had only done 6 or something before that), managed to reach 50 grounds with Reading on Tuesday at Scunthorpe. Almost gone a year without missing a game as well (including friendlies)!

*Not so humble brag*

You're only c3,000 behind Blackie then

By the way, second trip to Boro

That was my 6th

Huge huge win. One of the best defensive displays I've seen from Reading, the second half was just a never-ending onslaught.

Feds - 7 - Did fine, made a couple of good saves.
Gunter - 7 - Apart from nearly scoring the equaliser he looked solid. Dealt with Reach fairly well.
Pearce - 10 - Imperious. Won everything.
Hector - 9 - See above, but very slightly less often.
Obita - 6 - I thought he looked a bit weak defensively in the first half but really upped his game in the second.
Kuhl - 6 - Did fine, clearly inexperienced but plenty of potential.
Norwood - 8 - I like the look of this guy! Ran the midfield.
Taylor - 5 - Out of position, and it showed.
Edwards - 7.5 - Really good first half, faded in the second. Great assist.
Mackie - 7 - Worked tirelessly all game, chased down a lot of loose balls and generally played well.
Cox - 7 - Didn't get much of a kick considering Boro's dominance but took his goal really well.

One of the 242. Though slightly less than that witnessed Nigel come across at 2.30 and applaud the supporters.
Scored against the run of play but well taken goal.
Luckily they were poor in front of goal- we could have let in 5.

(Not too much of a sacrifice as only an hours drive from home)

Forgot to say I was a bit fed up at the end of the second half when we had a free kick just outside the penalty area but only 2 men in the box. Really invited pressure on ourselves by not keeping the ball or scoring a second goal.

2.8 lita injection I went to an away at Boro once, horrible day. The place is more soulless than the madstad and that is saying something.

Never again.

Agreed about the ground but how can you not be won over by the delights of the transporter bridge?

The fans are a decent bunch too in my experience. a good laugh and knowledgeable without the arrogance of the Geordies or the whining self loathing of the Makems.

Their fans were friendly on the way there, but on the way back they had a bit of a chip on their shoulders!

Agreed - was expecting another 4-0 when I saw that team sheet. Remarkable win and well done to the young players who have been forced into the first team very early in their careers.

Not sure why you were expecting such a poor result when you saw the team sheet. I understand people expecting it when they thought Hector and Obita would be out. But Edwards has been ok in his cameos, Norwood is a midfielder and the defence was full strength.

It's not like Middlesbrough's record of two wins two loses was particularly impressive.

Ian
Having seen us at 'Boro last Christmas, I was fearful of a drubbing. We were so bad that day and they swept us away.
With a young team,I expected them to bully us.
