Wolves - back from the sofa

by floyd__streete » 28 Sep 2014 15:16

15 minutes after half time was excruciating, Wolves could have scored 5 in that period, we were shambolic. Pearce particularly awful.

Passing sluggish and slow throughout. We're very one paced.

Guthrie made Akpan look good. You've been a consistently rotten egg for our club, just f*ck off elsewhere.....it has been awful.

Good to see Blackman is still utter, utter sh*t.

We have been consistently bad defensively since the start of the Adkins regime. His assistant Crosby was allegedly a centre half during his career, so why do we concede so often and so badly?

Very fortunate result.

Great game, decent point against a good team. I'd rather our problems would be defensive than going forward anyway.

The game changed at half time because Jackett rained down like hellfire on his players. Really disappointing mistakes from Obita and Pearce, but they've started the season well so will be forgiven.

I'd like to see Williams and Norwood in midfield when he returns.

Er, no. The game changed because our n0b-end of a manager decided to take off Akpan for a palpably unfit Guthrie who arguably should have been sent off within 10 minutes. We looked completely in control in the first half, it's beyond me why Adkins made the change.

Positives were our forward play was good, especially the interaction between Cox and Murray - Murray is a real handful; a Championship level Alan Shearer.

I should have given credit for the Taylor goal tbf, the one time we passed and moved the ball well and a good first time finish. Albeit Wolves had switched off criminally from kick off.

The fact that we have got goals us in us makes the ongoing defensive holocaust all the more frustrating.

Akpan was dog shit again, but should've been Kuhl on instead of Guthrie.

Harsh, Akpan is never going to be Xavi but he was doing a good job of screening the back 4; something which Guthrie was singularly unable to do and which precipitated our implosion.

We are guaranteed midtable this season, just glad to be entertained. Went 3-2 down & our fans were still outsinging Wolves. Their support was woeful despite a decent turnout.

I've given up on Adkins. Hasn't all been his fault since he's been here by any stretch just get the feeling it isn't going to work for him here.

Sometimes, things just don't work out.

Both a fair result and a game we should have won but for missed chances first half and suicidal defending.

fed 6 not much to save that I recall, little chance with the goals.
gunter 5 should have sako in his pocket, instead was on toast for him
obita 5 good forward at fault for the first two goals. Defender first.
pearce 7 ok
hector 7 sloppy at times
akpan 5 sloppy. He's weak in the tackle, poor positionally and whilst he tries to control it he's not good.enough to
norwood 6 not given the space or options to show his best
taylor 7 not a left winger but puts a shift I and scored again
blackman 6 flattered and failed to deliver
cox 7 worked hard
murray 7 same as cox

guthrie 6 off the pace
mackie 7 solid defensively
kuhl 7 not quite there but he's a talent so bonus for being young

Why did Cox come off? Tired? Thought he was our best player.

Don't see how anyone can be so sure of this. The losing team pretty much always comes out roaring for the second half. If it wasn't for two bad defensive mistakes (Obita deserves special mention for his) we'd have held out comfortable for the next 20 minutes or so.

Adkins just likes pulling off Cox.

Possibly but I thought the introduction of Guthrie just changed the overall dynamic of the team and panic quickly set in leading to the mistakes you highlight. Guthrie nearly getting sent off straightaway didn't help calm the team either.

You do know Norwood was given MOTM on sky, don't you.

I thought once again he looked class - goes about his job quietly but does it so well

First time I've seen Norwood play and thought he was excellent, just needs a destroyer alongside him (not Guthrie).
